One little problem with that theory: the Roman Empire was in Europe, not America.
Optimism is a duty.Agreed. You can't expect a reader of Sinfest to remember some minor thing from months or years ago that's suddenly brought back pretending to be something meaningful.

Yeah if you didn't notice the arrow I was responding to Redmess's question (which I took to be a "what do you mean by that?" / "why would you think that?").
As for Rome not being in North America, Sinfest is a bizarre pop fantasy world that has mythological locations from European myths (like the Lethe) within it, so there's no reason why Roman stuff couldn't be in the same place that "America" currently is. We have characters (Xanthe) who are the mere grandchildren of cosmic beings from the dawn of time (Nana) who are the same age as characters (Lil' E) that are merely the children of other such primordial cosmic beings (Lilith) and yet the same age or younger than ordinary people (Slick) who know nothing at all about any of that. Space and time make no sense in Sinfest, anything can be anywhere or anywhen.
And yeah, it was the Romanesque eagle that made me think the dead bot was Rome Tron. For a second I did think it was the older Sam Tron, but that's currently a playground in the woods whereas this one is underwater and when exactly did this flood happen if that really is old Sam Tron?

Okay ...
- We have seen Samtron 1.0, with that emblem on the chest.
- We have seen Samtron 1.0 get destroyed, with pieces of debris raining down all over the landscape.
- We have seen some of that debris fall into the forest, notably the head that some of the other characters made into a swing set. But it did not all fall in one place.
- We have never ever seen or heard of a Rome Tron, nor seen or heard of any sign of any previous empire in Sinfest's location. And wherever that is had Native Americans living there, the ones whom Sam killed at Ms. Liberty's request, so that sure does look like North America to me
- (If you want to bring a fallen empire into the Sinfest universe, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is much closer to us in time than Rome — and it even had a thing for oversized weaponry, too! But then again, I've never seen Tats criticize any socialist or communist regimes ... have you?)
- The symbolism I had in mind was "Sam, you crashed and burned once, you're gonna lose again." Which may count as foreshadowing rather than symbolism, since I think it's probable that Tats will show Samtron 2.0 being destroyed.

Well Duh. He thinks Communism is some utopian system instead of you know...
They finally are reacting to the Forest Fire. And what is Auntie Kate going to do.
So anyone else think kate is the Option B for Tats stand in for his SO?
Well, it's conceivable that the sudden introduction of "witchcraft" into Sinfest could be the result of Tats' SO taking up Wicca.
*IF* the alterations to the comic were the result of Tats trying to ingratiate himself with a Significant Other, we still have no idea who this person might be. Daughter? Wife? Sister? Ex-wife? Girlfriend?

Which is Bullshit. if any religion has actual magic it would be Shinto.

"Yes. I know. I'm working on it."
Because using Wiccan Magick to put out forest fires works so well in real life.
There really is a big emphasis on animism in Shintoism.
Hey, remember when I said some magical BS was gonna save the day?
Honestly Tats. I'm gonna say this. At this point you can have it be revealed Slick has Major Loptyr Holy Blood or is the Vessel of Grima and Sam has Killer Queen as his stand, and they'd Still be More Likeable than Kate or Any one who remotely is tied to the sisterhood.

"I'm working on it."
One unbelievably massive blaze later...
"...I meant put it out, not make a second one!" "Picky, picky, picky."
But seriously, aren't you guys annoyed at how Auntler (can we find a less cute nickname for miss Bitchy mcSomuchmorepowerfulthanGod?) is treating a freakin' forest fire like it's a leaky faucet?
Platypi hold the secret to happiness.Come to think of it, Scrappy Bitch might work better.
(Interesting coincidence that she's a bitch, and both tropes are dogs.)

Magic is going to solve everything. Nothing is gained. Nothing is learned. Nothing is lost. Tats can keep filling comic pages as the status quo continues. Again.
I just thought of one thing nice I can say about Auntlers. At least she just sticks to her own neck of the woods.
Seriously, out of all the Sisterhood members and affiliates she's the one that doesn't go out and about making a nuisance of herself. She's content to just stay in the woods and be left alone. The reason we don't like her is because Tats keeps focusing on her for some reason.
I started disliking her as soon as Tats started to use her as another example of why his politics are considered "right".
Which again, is more on Tats than anything. Heck, even our gripes with her treatment of the drones stems more from Tats' hypocrisy over them and the fembots
Auntie Kate is one of the more tolerable members, because I actually see her being a redeemable concept.
Eh, I used to like her until Tats made her tell Monique something like "This place is peaceful, because there are no men here." You could have heard my brain do a bootleg reverse, tires screeching and all... from "she's a cool weird lady" to "Oh crap, NOT ANOTHER ONE!"

Platypi hold the secret to happiness.
Yeah, that one was painful. This is why in my Better Sin Fest world, she would just be a stand in for Wicca/Neo-Paganism and being just a weird witch woman who is an ally to the protagonists. By protagonists, I mean Slick, Squig, real Monique, Criminy, Fuschia, and even Seymour. In my better Sin Fest World, she would despise her grandniece for being such a bigoted jerk and sometimes teaches her a lesson in actually fighting for women's rights.
Honestly I'd love to see this AU. And I think Nana and Kate both go out of their way to keep Xanthe from learning magic because we all know what she'd try to use it for.
Tats used an Eagle on Samtron Mark 1 that looked similar to the Roman Aquila/Nazi Eagle.
Hence Rome Bot. It's an easy mix-up, and given that the forest is now a great lake, evidently, maybe it IS a different machine.
