Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I mean, the fact that Ravus isn't on the list makes me think that they feel they've done a good enough job with him. So that's disconcerting. I still don't entirely get what his deal is.

Apparently more content concerning Ravus is already in the cards so I guess they see no need to vote on it.
And I doubt all of that's going to wind up in the game in the end, but it looks good to present it as an option.
This is apparently more of a "what do you want us to focus on first" list.
That would seem to be the point of any "hey which of these things would you most like to see" kind of survey. It's not entirely about the time and effort it would take the team, it's about what would the players want to see so the team can figure out where to focus that time and effort first.
Anyway I spoiled myself on the current ending because there's no way I can afford to buy the console it's on any time soon. I wonder if there's any way they're going to avert that end in the future. Probably not, though.
I mean, I feel good with where Ardyn's at. The gods were dicks, so now he's a dick. Fine.
Like, I don't quite get why he seems to be on Ifrit's side, given Ifrit is one of the gods responsible for everything. But I don't feel like I really need backstory for that.
With Ravus, I can't quite even tell whether he ever gave a fuck about his sister, or what he gets out of anything he does. Does he have motivations? Fuck if I know.

I just had to look up who Ravus was (I just thought he was Noctis' father for whatever reason). I can't remember a single thing he did besides have a boss fight that seems like it wasn't designed for XV's battle system.
This song needs more love. It's funny you say that, since it's the only boss fight in the game that took any sort of effort or had anything outside setpieces to make it stand out.
Actually dodging attacks? That's novel.
I mean, Noctis' dad was named Regis, so that's similar enough I can see the confusion.
I wanna know who the fuck named Regis. In-story, I mean. Because a King literally named "king" is one of the single most unimaginative things I've seen.
See, this is why Lucis deserved to fall.

Was a stream I missed:
You can actually controll guest party members now, awesome!
Also the XV crew showed up in "For Whom the Alchemist" mobile game
That was something that was part of the original Zodiac version, you can control the Espers as well as turn on and off their gambits but not modify them.
Pretty much the only truly new things are the secondary jobs, new music, and updated graphics.
I still can't get over how they're treating this like a brand spanking new game with all this promotion when it's arguably less new content to those who never got the International version than X' and X-2's Remaster was, and this is a much less popular game overall.
One could easily say that the original version of XII had a lot more content to start with and thus there wasn't much more they felt they needed to add.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.X's and X-2 was more cool stuff they could experiment with because of the waiting time between porting the game to Europe and back again to Japan respectively.
The international version of XII was basically what they wanted to do with the game's battle system from the start but couldn't due to time constraints.
There were all kinds of rumors about an arc of XII about the Rozarrian Empire being cut as well for the game's release, I would have loved to see some of that make it into the Zodiac Age but alas.

Maybe I'm being dense, but I don't understand your comparison.
You're right that talking about XII:TZA as if it's a whole new game is a bit much, but is right that there's a heck of a lot of content already there (there's plenty I didn't do the first or even second time around). As for it being less popular, you're not wrong there either, but the people who do like it really like it.

The level of promotion for this game is almost comparable to what XV had, minus the movies and anime and such, despite it being a remaster of a decade old entry with very little new content added to it beyond the updated assets. I don't think I've ever seen this much attention paid to a re-release like this before, and especially not for a title as divisive as XII was.
No way, XV had a massive tv campaign, huge ads in Walmart and just stupid levels of promotion everywhere.
XII has had streams and a decent internet campaign but it's been decidedly smaller and targeted.

I meant your comparison between the remasters of XII and X/X-2.
Do you think Final Fantasy XVI might already be under development, but it's unknown to the public? I mean, FFX started development the same year FFVIII was finished. FFIX also started being developed the same year. (1999)
Ayy, they didn't fuck up the Imperial March!
Life is more fun with infinite MP.It has probably been in the beginnings of development for a while now. However that really doesn't mean a thing as well for example Versus XIII started and had a full on trailer when XIII came out...
Technically Versus XIII (aka XV) didn't start development until 2012 but whatever.
A lot of fans say Hiroyuki Ito should direct FFXVI but something tells me it would be new talent like Naoki Yoshida.

There have been rumors that Ito and parts of the XIV team are working on XVI.
If that is the case we might have reason to expect XVI to turn out better and come out faster because Ito has done a lot of great contributions to the series (he created the ATB, was behind the job system for FFV and directed FFIX) and the XIV team under Yoshi-P has been very timely and produced solid content.
I think Tabata or some other developer said the game was released in its states to meet the Cosmic Deadline, so we see all this stuff left on the cutting floor they can re-add if there's enough demand for it. I'm not sure if this is the only survey the development team plans on having, and even then I'm hopeful we'll get multiple additions from this survey instead of 1.
