I'm fascinated by how symbiotic all the alien creatures are in this world. They're as much of a character as our leads are, especially Hollow.
I'm also glad we're getting more adult sci-fi series in general, between this, Pantheon, and Fired on Mars.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Pretty strange how nobody's done a page for this yet. I already started the Pantheon page guys, could somebody get a start?
"I am the lord of Purity, who tolerates no deviation." My first online storyAlright, I have created a page for Scavengers Reign.
So, season 1 is over. IMHO it's simply the best TV show his year, by wide margin. Now "animated show", but show overall.
C'mon season 2, ya can't just leave us hanging with the cult ship and baby plant robots.
I will say, however, that the psychic backlash thing was kinda outta nowhere. I feel like they wrote themselves into a corner with a nigh-unkillable adversary.
I disagree. It was very well thought out on a thematic level. It's a confrontation between symbiotic coexistence symbolized by changed, innocent and good-natured Levi and predatory, abusive and inherently traumatizing to everyone around "symbiosis" between selfish, broken by his guilt and trauma, Kamen, and Hollow. One of them is beneficial to the planet and its nature, the other is destructive to it. Scavengers Reign is a pro-ecological narrative about healthy, responsible, and respectful coexistence with nature. I like it. I think it's clever.
I'll definitely try and remember to watch this later, it looks cool.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)Is there a trope for the kind of Scavenging we see the cast do? Wherein, similar to the short, they kill something, or cut something open, or grab something, or shake something, or hit something - in order to make something else?
Is this basically what MacGyvering is? I only ask because I don't think I saw such a trope on this show's Western Animation page. Seems kinda ironic
So I finish the seasons. my score is 7.8 or 8.6
My gf? 3.8
why? mostly eight deadly words. Like the show is good when it come to the alien word that is beautiful and I love it specially how they interact with each other, the score is a beauty but I wont lie to said the chararter can be VERY dry and the lack of comic relief means their personality can come as bland, I will said Sam very much take the brunt here since his storyline is the most normal compared to levi and azi and kaman and hollow and most of the time him and ursual consist in "go to a place, get atack by....everything" repeatly until he dies I feel he should have being infected way early my gf was really sleeping by episode 10 and kinda drag herself into finished because sunk cost fallacy.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I finally got to the finale and I loved it. It went into places that I wasn't expecting, particularly with Levi. I thought this was going to be a self-contained narrative like Pantheon, but that tease got me hooked!
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Hell yes I can finally watch this legally!(no HBO Max for me in my country)
It sucks they got canned on HBO but hoepfully they'll do better a different playform.

New theme music also a boxYeah, both the series co-creator and Toonami's produciare hoping viewership on Netflix allows the streamer to give it another chance.
Nonetheless, it's frustrating that another atypical adult animated series is short-lived. To some credit, the series did appear on a few viewership charts for a while, but apparently it wasn't enough.
Epiodes one, two and three are out.
It's good! There's nothing quite like that in modern western animation, apart from maybe some experimental European animated works. But this miniseries(?) is little more conventional, yet still very alien and enigmatic. I'd recommend it strongly to you'all.
