So, Zack Snyder made something divisive...
In other news, water is wet.
You can't kill art.At least some people like it.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. Please elaborate
New theme music also a boxApparently they want to try and recreate the Synder cut phenomenon by holding back on releasing a better edited and cut version of the movie.
They've already announced they're doing that, though. Back in like...March.
It's not news.
Which was a stupid idea in this case since all it did was we ensure the audience’s first taste of what is meant to be a new cinematic universe was a bad one.
Audiences seem to be liking it just fine.
And again, this has been advertised for the better part of a year. If anybody wanted to wait for the director's cut, they're free to do that.
The audience score is looking pretty astroturfed rn. I’m looking through the top audience reviews on RT right now, and suspiciously, the 5 star reviews largely seem to be coming from new accounts they never rated any other movies, or, in some cases, just this and other Snyder flicks.
I think we need to wait for the actual Netflix release to get a clearer picture.

So first, it was "the people involved are all stupid" and now it's "the user reviews are fake".
None of that sounds like "waiting for a clear picture" to me.
I mean, yeah, that’s not really inconsistent. The movie doesn’t see wide release until next week, so there won’t be a clearer picture of how much audiences like it until then.
Yeah, but you're already jumping to conclusions, several times over.
I just call it like I see it. I find it equally suspicious when there’s a brand new account with no prior history that has nothing but vaguely worded contempt for a divisive movie.
I would like to apologize for adding fuel to this fire. I will also suggest that we can all just watch the movie and form our own opinions.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. No need to apologise, but yes, we shoudn’t let general reception colour how we will personally feel about the movie.
Where would they even release the R-rated cut? Also on Netflix?
Yes, that is what is going to happen.
Perhaps this would have been better as a tv show?
I mean, practically the only justification for director's cuts is that the distributors want as most showings as possible in theaters. Thing is, this is direct to streaming. At the same time, shows like Go T have gotten audiences used to watching and making successful R-rated material.
Time wouldn't be an issue, and since the "theatrical experience" is lost with it being direct to streaming, I think this would have been better received as a show.
Yeah, gonna wait for audience reactions. This is undoubtedly astroturfed to hell so anything is completely useless.
I started looking for reviews on Thursday and the top reviews weren't even trying to hide the fact they were five stars without having seen it yet.
Reminder: I want this to be good. I really do. But pretending audience reactions right now are anything but review bombs is insane.

Hop on over to this page and add them. The whole idea of a Standard vs Extended Cut on a streaming platform is interesting as a concept. The reasons movies get pared down is mostly because of theater scheduling, but also because of trying to capture and maintain the audience attention. Streaming services by their nature will attract the audience looking for it, and there is something to say about audience attention spans, but it still feels more like a creative exercise rather than something really needed. That said, a lot of grief has been made over movies having to fight for longer runtimes as some commentators are pushing back against any movie more than 2.5 hours.
The two cuts will likely get a lot of commentary about how the story changes with different edits, so it's maybe that sort of online traction they are hoping to capture.
Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!I was going to watch the original cut, but I'll probably hold off until the extended cut releases.
Oh cool. It's finally out. Netflix is promoting it at least, I saw an ad for it. Anyone see it yet? I'm gonna give it a few days to get some non-astroturfed reactions.

I mostly liked it. I can see critisism about somehow thin characterization and Cliché Storm, but visuals and action are great, plus it is just first part of two part movie and they are clearly setting up more for characters in a sequel. Main character Kora got most to do and I am hyped where they go with her connection to the Big Bad and title of Scargiver.
Jimmy is my favorite of the good guys and I am really sad he didn’t get more In movie, but as said they are clearly setting him up to officially join the team.
Well in my eyes I do quite enjoy it despite its flaws with some of the writing. TBH I do not blame the director but if there were better writers or some good moments my ranking would be higher. I do like the cinematography regardless. I will see if part 2 would make it up tbh.
It did start as Snyder's pitch to Lucasfilms for a Star Wars movie under his direction but they declined. And this was before George sold the franchise to Disney.
