There's been discussion on the Fountain Of Expies, Mountain Of Problems thread calling into question whether Stock Parodies are sufficiently different from standard Referenced by... items, and there seems to have been a feeling that at least some of them aren't. That being said, that discussion didn't go all that far, so here's a place where we can focus on that. Synchronicity was thinking about making a separate thread at the time, so I might as well take that off her shoulders.

Since Sliding Bike Stop was turned into ReferencedBy.Akira despite it being one of the most popular Shout-Out ever, it's probably save to say it's applicable to all Stock Parodies.

Near as I can tell, Sliding Bike Stop was cut primarily because it was a visual trope that was difficult to provide useful context for. (Also, there was disagreement as to how much it needed to resemble the Akira example to count.)

I think a reference to one particular aspect of a work can be trope worthy if there are enough examples of it, certainly if there's any meaning to it beyond being a Shout-Out, and a lot of items on the Stock Parodies index fall into that category. My bugaboo is "tropes" that are just "this is a stand-in for character X".
