Introduction: I sometimes found myself in confusion about how each fans have satisfaction from the villains by watching them get some form of comeuppance, I guess that depends on how the viewers felt, either relief or uncomfortable. While at times I can’t quite understand what is so cathartic and appealing about the trope, at least from my perspective, however I sorta get why most audience in real life feel this way, for example like being too happy to witness the evil characters finally get arrested, defeated, injured, killed or any forms of punishment, usually that somehow depends on how evil their unspeakable crimes and acts are in fiction stories. It does not just applies to the villains, I also noticed Catharsis Factor can go in many different unique ways as well, such as able to see the popular fan-favourite character’s unexpected grand return, and the fandom in response are overjoyed, as one of the many examples. Overall I obviously know how not everyone agrees, hence the reason why its called YMMV in the first place. With that said, if someone out there already talk about the exact same thing somewhere in the past thread before me then I’m sorry?
