Ok so this is something ive been wondering about for awhile. Madoka is often listed as the go to textbook example of a "magical girl genre deconstruction", the trope page even lists it as a trope codifier. But I can't think of anything about madoka that id considered "deconstructive". Sure its darker than your average magical girl show, but thats not the same thing. A deconstruction is supposed to reveal the "hidden realistic consequences" of tropes, but as far as i can tell madoka plays most magical girl tropes fairly straight. What am I missing?

The Media forum rules state that there should be exactly one thread per work/franchise and that "general topic" threads are not allowed. Please find a more suitable place to ask this question.
