First trailer for We Own This City. Given it's made by the creator of The Wire, I'm fulling expecting it to look at other problems with policing not just the most obvious problems with the extremely corrupt Gun Trace Task Force.

Alright first episode aired, and already I hate Hersl. I imagine that was the intent. I thought it was clever for Simon to have the episode start with a lecture of essentially what he thinks policing should be and then have that lecture juxtaposed with police not following it at all and it's capped off with the lecturer being a petty bully to some random guy in the street, which he specifically said not to do.

So three episodes in and Simon can barely hold his disdain at the state of modern policing. While he does have some respect for Murder policing done right, that scene in the third episode where Jenkins is getting chastised by superiors for beating porch sitters simply because he they didn't heed his warnings to get off the porch, with them outright saying he could lose job over it (which in self respecting department he would) and then it's revealed they were just messing with him is scathing in its critique.
