Hm.

Lore-wise, Freetown is basically a bunch of homesteaders who decided "we're not going to be subject to the corrupt authorities of Tattooine any more" and effectively just declared themselves a isolationist city-state.

Cobb was appointed, not by a higher authority, but by the people. Like, he went on a one man quest to clean up the region and free them from corporate tyranny, and in return they declared him their protector.

Then he's an anarchist sheriff. They're doing that thing where they officially don't have hierarchies or power structures but then immediately create hierarchies and power structures anyway because that's how civilization works.

They don't call him a sheriff because GOVERNMENTS BAD but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck....

Sheriffs also, in the US, cover more than one territory, generally a county. It's why in westerns there's the cliche of the sheriff coming into town; they're not always in any given town. Vanth very explicitly is only about Mos Pelgo. Which... makes him a marshal of the town.

Which is why they call him a marshal.

Is it anarchist if it's a city-state?

Looking it up, he was the sheriff (and mayor) of Freetown back in the book that first introduced him.

I assume the use of marshal is a minor retcon.

Probably a Hollywood thing. Marshal sounds cooler then Sheriff.

Not as far as I know, and I'd be very surprised if it happens.

Partly because of the show's poor response, and partly because part of the reason for the show's poor response is that it seemed like the writers weren't actually all that interested in telling the story of "Crime Lord Boba Fett".

I could see Boba Fett pop up in the Mandalorian again or if some other show in the Rot J-TFA interim period swings by Tatooine for whatever reason, but I'd be very surprised if the show got a Season 2 in the foreseeable future.

Yea, I'm pretty sure Bobba Fett has been relegated to "potential guest star in a future show", and that will still be a while probably. The season was pretty messy and lackluster, I doubt any writer for a future Star Wars show really wants to dive into it.

The show was described by it's creators as Mandalorian season 2.5, so I always figured it was a one-and-done. It's purpose was to establish Fett as a benevolent crime man that Mando can use for resources and aid in future, since he got banished from the Children of the Watch.

Tatooine's state of being could probably be called "Anarcho-Feudalism".

Season 2 will be announced after The Mandalorian Season 3 wraps up. It will star Din and Grogu, and occasionally feature Boba Fett.

Yeah uh I'm actually curious what happened?

With how little it actually focuses on Bobba (even flat out sideling him for two episodes). I get the feeling the creators didn't want to make this show so struggled with it.

Good day everybody.

For Din and Grogu reunion, I definetely get thematic link to Boba’s journey. But yes it does feel it would work better, if Luke and Grogu training only for them to Realise it simply isn’t what Grogu wants would worked better as Mando season 3 premiere. Or they could hold of reunion for season 3 at least.

Show does work if watched as Interlude in Mandalorian. Somehow funny, some people didn’t want Boba if mando out fear that he would overshadow tittular Character and it seems oposite happened.

This series is getting attention on twitter again because of behind the scenes stuff showing that the guy they CGI'd Mark Hamill onto actually looks a lot like a young Mark anyways

On one hand it is nice that Mark can still be part of character he so loves. On other hand, it makes weird deepfake weird and unecasary waste of money.

What ? Why didn't they just use him normally than. Like if they wanted the voices to match. They could have just had mark dub him over.

The funniest bit is the comment that points out they recreated Luke as he looks exactly in Return of the Jedi, despite the fact its been 10 years when Book of Boba happens

So they forgot to have Luke age [lol]

I have just accepted that humans in Star Wars age differently, with only consistency being “how people in charge want them to age” [lol].

[up][up] That is a guestion I would love answered.

Same thing with Tarkin in Rogue One. Guy Henry, the actor they CG'd Peter Cushing's face over, absolutely could have portrayed a live-action Tarkin. Just make his cheekbones more pronounced with makeup and it would have looked fine, certainly better than the uncanny valley nightmare in the actual movie.
