Oh right, we didn't actually have a thread for this series. Yeah, definitely another hit from Aka, and an interesting little look into the entertainment industry in Japan.
Just came across this and it is certainly a fascinating read so far.
And is it just me or is the latest arc about Abiko and her obssessiveness towards her creation kind of reminiscent of Isuki Aino's story from Time Paradox Ghostwriter?
I'll take your word for it since the first time I heard about that series was when it got cancelled.
Aka and Mengo recently did an interview about Oshi no Ko.
I don't know if someone will do a proper translation of this interview, but from this interview through Google Translate did people find out that:
Goro was originally supposed to be a member of the Yakuza but this was changed to obstetrician.
A lot of the major plot points have already been decided, but things like character relationships are made up on the spot. The example Aka gave is that Memcho wasn't supposed to be a relevant character, but Aka liked her so he changed her role.

They’re both cases of a mangaka invoking Write What You Know.
I remember people were pleasantly surprised about Memcho getting recruited to B-Komachi. So that really wasn’t planned after all haha.
Huh. Interesting. Is "the perfectionist, obssessive genius who fires all their assistants because they can't keep up the standard of quality she wants from her work, thus ruining their physical and mental health" actually a common plot or character type in manga about manga stories?

Hehe, everyone aboard the screenwriter-mangaka ship!
Where's Abiko's (and Yoriko for that matter) character page on this site. The chapter before this being essentially an argument-therapy session between a massively successful mangaka and her mentor mangaka with zero appearances from Aqua or any of the main protagonists should have sealed it.
Abiko even got a color page too.

Interesting. So basically the new script is one that relies on the actors' performance to bring out the story. I wonder which of the two acting styles (immersive vs. adaptive) will benefit more from this change.
Maybe not specifically for manga about making manga but it’s a common trope for perfectionists to let their pursuit of their ideals mess them up physically, mentally and socially.
You can make it yourself.
I’d wager adaptive acting would be better in this particular case, but maybe if the script is detailed enough…
In today's chapter: Kana steps on a landmine and long-repressed trauma makes an unwelcome comeback.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Keep forgetting about the reincarnation part of this manga.
Yeah, what a way for the reincarnation aspect to rear its head again. Having Gorou tear into Aqua for daring to be happy was quite the chilling visual for his self-loathing. Man, I was just enjoying seeing Aqua try to adapt to theater acting too.

Damn Kana, talk about bodyslamming that mental landmine...
Was wondering when she would figure it out.
Aqua hammering the "MUST FIX/HEAL" button without even realizing it. But man, Akane is one smart cookie. Never expected Akane to become so important to the plot when she first appeared, that's for sure.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Romance isn't the main aspect of Oshi no Ko, but Aka knows what he's doing with engaging love triangles between Kana-Aqua-Akane.
Really rooting for Akane, but anyway it's great to see Akane's analytical and deductive mind show up again.
Dayum, talk about putting two and two together. Will be fun to see how this plays out for the two.
Nice to see Akane flex her Awesomeness by Analysis again.
New chapter! Looks like Aqua's not the only one a few actors short of a troupe.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.When Kana visited in Ch. 14, she said she orders takeout for her meals. Akane cooks. These two really are contrasts of each other.
Also, I'm a fan of this development. To have a major, recurring character that actually indulges in Aqua's revenge. Do I want Aqua (and by extension Akane) to succeed with their goal? No. But it is super interesting.
That little bit of craziness really adds to Akane’s appeal. Also having her as Aqua’s partner-in-planned-crime is a good way to level the field with Kana.
Also wondering how Aqua will do emotional acting.
Ah, we thought that it was the classic manga love triangle of tsundere vs. nadeshiko, but it was actually the even more classic tsun vs. yan.
With Aqua as the kuu, even.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Aqua was already a powder keg, wondering how much worse the explosion was just made.
This reincarnation, idol part-revenge story/part-exploration of the entertainment world is my favorite manga to have begun serialization in 2020.
With Kaguya-sama: Love Is War's Aka Akasaka as author and Scum's Wish's Mengo Yokoyari as the artist, this was already a stacked production going in and has more than lived up to quality expectations in my personal opinion.
Let's see Aqua and
KanaAkaneRuby's rise in the entertainment industry.
