I don't really understand the trope either. The list in the description is basically just "you can eat a variety of foods in a video game". To me, that just seems like People Sit on Chairs.

I'm a bit confused by Game Gourmet. It's apparently a video game trope with specific criteria that describes games with a variety of foods that the player consumes but it seems like many of the examples are "game has several available food items that all restore health" or it's really describing Cooking Mechanics.
Is the idea behind this that the developers went out of their way to implement several different items/graphics instead of going with a more generic health restoring item like a Heart or Potion, and that's what's noteworthy about it? It feels a bit chairsy otherwise.
