I don't know if anyone else has this same thought, but every second I ponder about the wiretapped pen is another second leading me to think that the pen is related to the dead girl in Nerima.

So Odakawa has explained a good amount of the crime relationship to the younger Daimon, Kakihana has now been taken by the yakuza, Shirakawa has made amends with Goriki, Kabasawa is growing more and more so his fall is coming, and a body has been found in the water. I can't say how much of the past past happened but this present is growing in intensity. Odakawa did not drive anybody in his taxi this episode also. Could it be that the name of the anime Odd Taxi is some weird think on Odakawa?

On an unrelated note, Yano can freaking rap! Damn!
Ok back to seriousness, the pen was indeed with the elder Daimon, poor Kakihana, indeed Yamamoto was working for Yano, and Shirakawa working to help...
Audio Drama: It's the Elder and Little Daimon... Did the pen pass to Little Daimon? Also, the title... Justice part.2??

[up][up] probably in the sense that he's a very odd taxi driver...

Oh, another thing, "We're going to treat Odokawa." Cue brain scan and medical records. Seems odd and like fuel to a theory...

Dammit, younger Daimon didn’t get to open the closet. And considering the news report of a dead woman… Still the possibility Odokawa is talking to a hallucination is still there, and at least we now have Shirakawa assisting Goriki to help cure him of his unspecified mental illness that lets him see people as anthropomorphic animals.

As feared Kakihane has fallen for the honey trap. And Kabasawa is similarly digging himself deeper. Remember kids, don’t let Twitter likes dictate your life.

Props to the subber for Yano’s lines, it sounds like legit rap even if it doesn’t match too cleanly with Yano’s voiced lines.

[up][up][up] Checked the Oddtaxi Wiki, and Past Me, you were wrong... It was the other way around - younger to elder.

So Kakihana finds out first-hand that Shiho didn't care about him and only wanted out of the scheme because she hated every minute she spent with him. Meanwhile Dobu and Odokawa came up with a plan to beat Yano to the punch of stealing Inai's lottery winnings by robbing the bank. Odokawa also sneakily gathers some evidence, but his own plan hits a snag when he realizes Kakihana is Yano's captive.

There was also the continued Kabasawa plot with him starting to become a controversial figure, even charging fans to be a part of the investigation. And from the looks of the preview, he's also spending their money to get laid.

Audio Drama: some unknown people in Harada's... I suspect it's Donraku? Or probably someone else, but what I got from it is that Harada now has the pen...
Also, the numbering is 8.8... Did it happen before this episode started?

Thankfully Odokawa tells Inai off for posting the lottery ticket online and gives him some tips to avoid the gangsters. Too bad he has to haul Kakihana out of a ditch too. Also gonna have to give props to our grumpy walrus for standing his ground against Dobu and successfully recording some sweet, sweet evidence. Even sneezed to hide the shutter sound, really good thinking on his part.

Kabasawa has gone full scumbag. Karma is probably prepping up something fierce for him.

The writing continues to be superb, this will easily end up as AOTS for me if it can maintain this level til the end.

Episode 9 and whoo boy the plot is thickening like Maple Syrup.

Okay, I did not expect Dobu to play therapist to Kabasawa, convince him to drop the whole investigation, and manage to still deliver some karma to him by taking his car, apartment, and leftover money from his followers in exchange.

Also, didn't we already get confirmation that Odokawa's parents were dead, or were they only stated to not be around anymore?

[up] I reckon the latter. All I remember was that Odokawa moved to a house in fifth grade without much said on his parents. Plus, the phrasing sounded like some big reveal, so if it was the former point, then it wouldn't have as much of an impact on us the audience.
In Audio Drama news, Yano has the ballpen. Sick beats were dropped, but I assume that this was said after episode 9 as he remarked about Kakihana escaping. Last word said: Sekiguchi. He also said something about Yamamoto and Mystery Kiss. Where will the pen go next time?

All that's mentioned is that Odokawa's parents deserted him and he was assisted by a NPO (Non-profit organization, the Japanese term for NGO or non-government organization).

Yeah this is the first explicit confirmation we got that Odokawa’s parents are dead, not that the average watcher would have thought otherwise.

The entire Dobu self-improvement seminar had me in stitches. It was also pretty cathartic. Kabasawa at least gets off relatively unscathed.

I always had the sense Odakawa's parents were dead. This show is fairly dark, Odakawa was in an accident when he was young, he has mentioned that he doesn't have that many close connections to people which would have included living relatives. So it was in my head but now it's confirmed.

Dobu's lecture to Taichi also surprised me as he very easily could have killed Taichi but didn't. Dobu is still not heroic person in any way but he is still a "good" person or at least a person with strong morals. Strong Morals also tie to Odakawa and the Daimon siblings. When watching the episode I also thought there might have been some additional symbolism between how Odakawa sees himself as a walrus with tusks pointed down and Dobu who as a gelada has tusks pointed up.

I don't know what to say about this week's episode. Everything is coming to a close. I also saw the pen so now that's a factor.

How did Shirakawa know they were at the construction site? How do the comedians factor into the plot? Which girl did Dobu show Odokawa?

[up] Dunno about Shirakawa, but damn she was badass this episode even with capoeira!
[up][up] Speaking of the pen, audio drama news! Yamamoto and Nikaidou. Looks like the pen was given to the latter.
Now from the last line of the episode, I actually believe Odokawa — it probably wasn't Mitsuya. Perhaps it might be a fourth member with the number 4 in her name. Reasoning: Superstition. Bad luck thing, therefore slated to die.
Also, at least now we know where the name ODDTAXI came from.

[up][up] Curious to know who the dash-cam girl is too.

No idea how Shirakawa found the construction site, maybe she was also stalking Odokawa. The alpa-capoeira was so funny though.

The warthog comedian is Imai’s coworker while the horse one is Nikaido’s boyfriend. It’ll be easy to plop them into the main plot.

The following episodes will be a wild ride.

What we learned from this Odd Taxi episode:

Nikaido was going to kill the original Yuki but someone did her in first. Yano is probably hard to understand in universe because of his rapping. The cost of disposing of this body was half Mystery Kiss’s future profits with no disclosed end date and that Yano would get to use any of Mystery Kiss for his schemes which he took up with Shiho to badger Kakihana. Shiho didn’t know someone killed Yuki but was told about the change and because of the replacement is why Shiho and the new Yuki (Ichimura) wore masks. Weird how in our view they were still cats and I could see they had different eyes but it probably was a bigger clue that Imai knew there was something different about Yuki but didn’t know she was replaced. Donraku is Yuki’s father apparently and he was involved in criminal activity outside the Yakuza we know. Baba became Nikaido's emotional support to avoid thinking about Yuki's murder, compromising her competitive edge.Odakawa definitely knows between the dead Yuki and the fake Yuki but he has to rely on the Older Daimon who might not be able to help in any meaningful way. And Mystery Kiss isn't releasing that Christmas CD.

In voice actor news, the real Yuki Mitsuya's voice was revealed to be Akari Kitou.

In audio drama news, it's Ichimura and (fake) Mitsuya. The pen remained on Mitsuya, and we got to hear a bit of a conversation between her and her mother, likely about the news of the death of the real Yuki Mitsuya, which was likely the main thing going on in the Ichimura-(fake!)Mitsuya conversation. The title is in English: "The cat is out of the bag."

Indeed, this episode had major revelations!
