I have not read Naomi but as I recall the general setting of the character involves a simple American town, and Naomi's quest of self-discovery both metaphorical and literal in the discovery of her otherworldly origins.
So I guess it would appeal more to the CW execs because of the inherent simplicity of such a character, since you can can make a chill character-driven show in a cost-effective environment. The show synopsis pretty much indicates that and I can easily see them going small for the first several seasons before escalating after a while.
Plus Superman has some involvement in her story so you can easily crossover with Lois and Clark.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Just asking now, but since the series is based on a character from Bendis, and his first series is six issues long, beyond how wordy they were, how do you expand on the thing? I doubt the season would be very long, but still. Pacing.
Wake me up at your own risk. When the book The 100 was adapted into the TV series The 100, they covered all the events of the book (those they didn't change or cut out) by the end of the pilot episode, and since the book didn't have any sequels at that point, they just went their own way with the story for the next seven years.
Probably the same deal here.
Newcomer Kaci Walfall will be Naomi, as per Deadline and Ava herself.
Always good to see new talents being promoted.

Looks quite good.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What are her powers again?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).She's a flying brick ala energy type.
Her body produces this unique type of energy that allows her to shoot lasers that as well grants her super-strength, durability, and flight.
So like Captain Marvel.
While Painkiller is dead, at least Naomi is moving forward

And another one. The marketing seems to be rolling. I really hope this will be good
The premiere episode of Naomi ("Don't Believe Everything You Think") just came out yesterday. The CW's website and app has it available for free viewing right now.
The first episode dragged a bit and I think the dialogue was stilted, but this episode seemed to be doing a lot of set up especially since unlike most other CW adaptations, this is adapting something that the majority of readers probably have no idea about, so I'll forgive it that.
I quite liked Naomi (the MC). It is so refreshing to see a character be allowed to enjoy being a geek without the usual tropes that gets forced on them, especially when it's a Black character.
Zimbado did not seem to have the energy needed for a villain, but that may change.
All in all, not as good a premiere as say, Superman and Lois or Stargirl, but it has me looking forward to more.
Yeah it's a very slow burn episode so gonna have to wait till the full plot comes into effect for concrete thoughts.
A bit disappointed that they cut out Mongul, really wanted to see him in live-action.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That wasn't too bad, though there is definitely room to improve.
Who might that blue guy Superman thought have been?
Also, opened up a Recap page, feel free to contribute

The sudden transitions made the episode feel very dreamlike to me.
I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but I would assume so.
Same with how everything/one feels like it only exists in relation to Naomi.
The last new superhero show I picked up was Stargirl. Although comparing the two, I liked this first episode better.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.
Could be Naomi trying too hard to look cool to her parents.
The fact her life is kind of overtly perfect does lend to that. It's like a Trueman Show kinda deal maybe.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."You know what I would love here? This Earth's Superman being played by Brandon Routh.

And the Promo for next episode implies Naomi might tell her parents right away. Good! I hate the whole Secret Identity hide-and-seek game.

Maybe I really was a bit doomsaying-li yesterday after the news of Wonder Girl not being produced.
The CW officially ordered a pilot for Naomi a few days ago
