Watching that clip alone you can really see what went wrong with the movie.

Its a generic action movie. It feels so generic it hurts.

I finally saw Prey and I loved it.

Sarii is a good boi. My dog didn't like him though. Kept growling whenever he was onscreen.

That's odd.

Nah, he does that a lot to animals on TV in general. He can even recognize animated animals apparently, since he got really mad at the cat in Soul.

Bizarrely enough, he seemed to have no problem with the Predator itself, even though he's growled at stuff like the Xenomorph and Demogorgon before.

I watched Prey. It was very good. My only problem was more of a me thing. The final fight is more of a long sequence of payoffs than a back and forth encounter. Naru spends the whole movie observing the Predator, and the final fight is her taking advantage of EVERYTHING she knows to hit the predator faster than it can even mount a defence. Which works. It's a good payoff for everything that's happened in the film. All those scenes where she's trapped on the sidelines watching the Predator work. It's just not my preferred type of fight.

I like that at no point did they ever pretend that Naru could or would beat the Predator in a "fair" fight, even in a Fake Out kind of way.

Her win in the end felt properly deserved as she'd been learning and observing the whole time, she didn't pull A Random Trap out of her butt she specifically set up in a certain way at a certain place based on what she had been established as learning.

Holy fuck this Predator-Killer suit is completely ridiculous.

Like the shoulder cannons are way more over the top massive than what the actual Predators use.

The whole Predator Killer idea was added in reshoots. They even shot different versions where it was Ripley or Newt. Yes, really.

they tried to get a xenomorph but the damn thing just killed everyone,even the kid!

Oh yeah I watched this video that went into the development problems of the film

The original planned stinger was Dutch showing up but Schwarzenegger turned them down especially cause he didn't like the script.

Yeah, Dutch was supposed to get off a helicopter right after McKenna and Casey kill the Upgrade. I'm guessing Arnold was more turned off by how small the role was than the script in general. He's said yes to stinkers in the past.

In general yes. the biggest criticisms came from the usual dipshits complaining about how "woke" it is so can be fairly safely ignored.

Yep, I even expect it to get a direct sequal, which has never happened in the franchise before.

Edit: sigh, unless you count AVP:R but that didn't even have any returning characters.

So apparently there's a complete ten episode Alien vs Predator anime series that has yet to be released and was originally planned to be aired in 2016.

I hope this show gets released someday since it sounds like an anime anthology by various studios just like they did with Batman and Halo.

It's funny. I get hyped when I hear "Aliens" or when I hear "Predator", but when I hear "Aliens vs. Predators" my enthusiasm plummets.

Admittedly, the arcade beat'em up was solid. So who knows, maybe the anime anthology would also be good.

I hear the original comics were pretty fun

The game was fun from what I remember, especially the multiplayer. Played tons of the demo alone.

When it comes to pronouncing Yautja, what's the way to do it? "Ya-ut-ha" or "Ya-ut-jya"?

My brain tends to run the first part all together, like yowt-ja or yawt-ja.

It Is Pronounced Tropay!

My impression (although I don't know of what provenance) has long had it be pronounced roughly as "yowt-tcha". (With the "ow" rhyming with "now" or "plough".)
