Definitely looks a fuckload better than Rotoscoping ever did.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.New trailer helping to show the plot off and more of the Triscope animation.
Really hope someone would make a Trope page on this.
Speaking of which should this be categorized as Film or Western Animation?
For the Imperium!!!I'd stick with Western Animation. It is mixing 2D animation with CG after all.

A Variety article on the technology and the production, in which Triscope saved the series millions of dollars in budget. Switching to animation is how the show moved from History channel (which didn’t want animated content) to Netflix (where they’re buying it like it’s gonna rot).
It’s fascinating because the creative minds behind this naturally only thought of Simpsons and Family Guy when they heard animation, and the studio fought an uphill battle to convince them it would work.
Having watched it, I'm still not sold on the visuals (as in, I find the animation style the weakest part of what's otherwise a very strong mini-series), but that's rather brilliant.

The rare non-fiction book turned into an animated series, The Liberator is an adaptation of the Alex Kershaw book about the 157th Regiment during World War II. The series uses a new form of rotoscoping known as Triscope, which blends traditional animation with CG.
The series will be released on Veterans Day, November 11.
