I'm waiting to see what the 4-stars are for the 4.6 banner before deciding whether to go for his C1. It could potentially have some very useful ones like Layla or Chevreuse, since the current ones are all C6 for me.

Plus I do have Jean, who can help circumvent the elemental requirements thanks to the self-swirl on her burst.

The Arlecchino boss fight looks wild

I do wonder what her deal is, hopefully we'll learn. Sounds like we're gonna learn what Cyno's deal is too.

Part 1 wish banners are Arlecchino and Lyney, Part 2 are Scaramouche and Baizhu

(i'm guessing they're speedrunning baizhu reruns so they can stick him on the regional banner)

Maybe they realized that his Signature Weapon is such a Junk Rare that it harms weapon banner sales whenever he has a rerun. It certainly deterred me from pulling Furina's.

That said Lyney's signature is so good that I might pull for Arlecchino's weapon at least once.

I'm expecting that Arlecchino's weekly boss material will come from herself, since the other playable Harbingers both use their own mats.

Yes, she will use the new weekly boss and the new field boss mats, so you won't be able to prefarm much for her.

There's not much you can prefarm, as her boss drop, weekly boss drop, and best artifact set are all in the new area. All you can gather are Fatui badges, talent scrolls, and rainbow roses.

At least it's not Cyno level bad.

Interesting thing to notice: Arlecchino's skills don't have any Arche effects, which suggests she's not actually Fontainian.

possibly a side effect from having a snezhnayan vision case but still worth noting

At this point the jury is still out if she's even human, much less Fontainian.

Also new character Sethos officially revealed. Not a catboy nor fox boy as leaked, also appears to have an electro vision and not dendro. Design is fire as usual, but I am surprised at how fast they dropped dendro as soon as version 3 ended. Especially since they are adding a new Buring centric artifact set?

Emilie is supposedly Dendro, though whether she'll release anytime soon is currently unknown and her element could change between now and said release.

Kind of a shame Sethos is Electro. Cyno doesn't really need more Electro, he needs reliable multi-wave offield Dendro application. And if Sethos is an on-fielder it's nearly guaranteed he won't be worth building with how strong of on-field options we have for Electro.

The catboy stuff was based off his concept art,◊ where he had obvious cat ears. It looks like that bit of his design was scrapped, though we already knew that from his 3D model leak.

I get that having New Characters is nice, but isn't this just Nahida's entire niche?

No, as Nahida's one flaw is that she has to get on field to reapply her skill to a new wave of enemies (unlike true off fielders like Xiangling, Fischl, or Yelan). While not a problem for most characters, it hurts Cyno teams since his burst will end the moment he leaves the field.

Oh yeah. Then yes, Dendro is kinda lacking an off-field applicator.

Well, while Dendro!Traveler can fill that niche if needed, I think their ultimate is still better off for Bloom based teams because of the increased range it gets when triggering a hydro reaction near its core.

Dendro needs a Xiangling/Xingqui counterpart for Aggravate/Spread teams.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.

Most games: Huh, this cat is a little bigger than average. Must of got that scar as a stray on the streets.

Genshin Impact: This cat drank abyssial whopperflower juice and tripled in size! This made it a target for predators and it was fighting for it's life until we administered an antidote that mostly shrank it back down.

Then give me my panther-sized housecat you cowards!

Surely he can do both. It doesn't have to be either/or.

This is a hypothetical team for Cyno, so Hydro works, hyperbloom is really powerful

Dendro Traveler is alright, but has a 12 second burst duration so it's going to expire before Cyno's is finished.

Baizhu is kind-of better at 14 seconds but has his own issues (mainly applying dendro to groups). Still, I prefer him in my Cyno & Furina team for obvious reasons.

Baizhu is a really good partner for Furina in general, the two of them go together on just about any team

The ideal team for Cyno at the moment is Cyno-Nahida-Baizhu-Furina, with a lot of ER on Cyno. Sadly ideal Cyno teams are very inflexible at the moment because of how long Cyno stays on-field. That's why Sethos being Electro is disappointing; even if he is an offield Electro applier he's not likely to be able to slot into Cyno teams until/unless there's some Dendro unit released later that doesn't require Cyno to leave the field to apply a lot of Dendro. The best outcome for playing Sethos and Cyno together is if Sethos is an Electro Baizhu, with ridiculous teamwide healing and interruption resistance (so you can still run Furina), but I find that package to be unlikely in a 4*. It's possible, I suppose, if they made something like an electro Xingqiu, but 4*s tend to be really weak these days minus one or two exceptions.

Am I missing something? Why is Sethos discussed as dedicated Cyno support? Did dataminers find that he's tied to Cyno's leg or something?

Because people are desperately hoping this isn't going to be a situation where two characters are closely related in lore but can't be run together in a team. Plus 4* carries are not really worth using compared to 5*s so people are really hoping he's a sub-dps or a support. We haven't heard anything about his kit yet.

You can drop Nahida for Fischl or Kuki without too much power loss. Against bosses or small groups of foes Baizhu's application rate is sufficient. Yaoyao can also swap with Baizhu, although the interrupt resistance loss is annoying.

I do admit that Cyno is one of the more expensive characters, whose teams seem to demand more premium supports than average. I guess you can run something like Xingqiu, Kuki/Fischl, and Yaoyao but it just isn't the same.

I still like him because his playstyle is just really fun. It's like piloting an angry cat.

That and the latest 4 stars that we have been getting that are related in lore can also be run together with ther 5 star counterpart like Mika with Eula or Chevreuse with Clorinde.
