While you're walking towards Southwestern Chang'an, you pass through the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a few Buddhist monasteries, Daoist abbeys, several family shrines and a few walled gardens. Finally, you arrive at what you're sure it's the place where the demons first attacked, judging from the look of despair in some people and the number of people in the family shrines and the graveyard not far away.

As Alarmelmangai helps the old woman with the groceries back to her house, she tries to start conversation with her.

My son-in-law was a scholar, and thus wanted to name his son with the character of "scholar". My daughter loved nature and winter, and thus she wanted to namme him "swan goose". But they both though each other's name was also good, and so they named it Yanru."
"When my children were just kids, we used to live in the Lu Prefecture. But when my husband was promoted, we moved to the capital city. My son became a officer when he grew up, and eventually was dispatched to the Hei Prefecture. My daughter stayed with me, and sometimes, we visited gardens. There was where she met Guo Yuan, and became engaged to him not long after. They were a happy couple, and were gifted with a kid a few years later. My husband died peacefully in a few months, and we continued a calm life since then. But they were killed three days ago."

"Who's that big sister with you?" He asks after he sees Mel.
"Oh, I bumped into her before, and then she offered to help me with the vegetables, but I didn't caught her name. What is your name, young girl?"

(Let's roll a die to see what you can get... it's an 1, godsdammit. The Zorua bad luck persists. I should probably get a bunch of Nat 1 consequences and roll some dice to see what it lands into instead of letting characters trip all the time.)
Junpei is unable to find any information in Southeastern Chang'an for the moment, and to make matters worse, he has tripped over and hurt himself, losing 3 HP that way.

Junpei's investigation in Southwestern Chang'an
(Technically, they are the same place, but let's roll and see. Please for the sake of the gods be something not a Nat 1. 3. It was a 3. +1 of Analysis Skill bonus, 4.)
Junpei manages to find some information in Southeastern Chang'an. Bite marks of the demons in the houses and some fallen orange-yellow fur in the ground. That confirms they are canids. He also finds out that there were several demons and they gained their strength in numbers, and their number is roughly about twenty demons, and they all looked like some sort of dog.

Junpei's investigation in Southwestern Chang'an
(You rolled a 4, and that's good.)
Junpei walks around until he arrives at the closest Buddhist temple there is. There, he finds three monks. One of them is fat, the other tall, and the last one, short. After he asks them, they mention that the demons didn't have any special weapons or anything. Only two of them had weapons, and they were just normal knives. The rest of them just bit and ate everything.
Finding no important information, Junpei heads to the abbey nearby. An scholar-like young Daoist also tells him the same as the monks did, but adds that he sensed that the demons were from far away and he thinks that they were some sort of fox-dog hybrid. He also began to tell his backstory to Junpei, who had to put up with the five-minute long thing of how he was sworn brothers with the three monks in the monastery before they each joined the monastery and the abbey, respectively, because they were childhood friends despite being, by order of appearance, the son of a general, the son of a woodcarver, a kid abandoned at the door of and adopted by some farmers, and the son of a great official.
After the Daoist told him a quick childhood adventure about them defeating a demon, he says that he is willing to fight against the demons, and the only reason he didn't do that before is because he was too busy taking care of an injured fellow Daoist in the abbey. He also adds that the three monks are also willing to fight. After that, he tells Junpei their names: Zhao Fei, Cao Juewu, Liu Juetian and Zhou Juedi, with the latter three being Dharma names.
Do you want to do anything else in Southwestern Chang'an, or are you returning to Southeastern Chang'an to take care of the demons, Demon-Concealer?

...Right. Junpei’s eyes are utterly glazed over at this point, but that confirms there isn’t anything else to find out—and at the very least, he’s gotten some info on their abilities.
Thankfully, it’s definitely not much. These’ll probably just be the usual fare of generic grunts to exterminate.

The White Bull spirit downs another bowl of wine. Damn, that's the good stuff. He should stop himself here, though. As a demon, he has a higher metabolism than any normal man of his size, and he's already pretty big, but even so, it would not do him well to get drunk on his rescue mission.
He eyes that mysterious stranger with suspicion. He mentioned the cattle... Could it be on purpose, or just a passing statement? The man from earlier had pointed out Mr. Sun might not be a normal human. White Bull is certain there's more he's hiding from them - he wouldn't doubt the man somehow knows something about who he really is.
"Listen here, Mister Sun," the burly man speaks. "Whatever you're planning, I want no part in it. I don't trust the likes of you, and I am not about to die stupidly on the mountain full of demons. You can count me out."

The kid dashes home and brings out a weared out leather ball.
"I got this from my daddy! He said he used to play cuju with it, but he was too busy to play with it, so he gave it to me to play ball! Will you play ball with me?" He says as he starts to kick the ball around.
