I want to write a dystopian story set about 200 years in the future whith an ensemble cast consisting of about 8 primary characters. The story I'd like to tell is those characters fighting against the system and their own personal struggle and I know that in this genre, especially the Young Adult branch, a lovestory between two leading characters is expected. But I do not want do write that because I think it takes the focus away from that and the story itself. Therefore, some of the characters would get "Ship Tease" but it is really up to the reader's imagination.
My plan contains only one exception of this because the cast will contain to openly lesbian characters who will become a couple during the story's progress.
I am now concerned about creating something like Unfortunate Implications with this whole idea, is there something I should especially think about?
