Cacio e pepe is a success. It’s a little strong but otherwise fine.

I am now officially a fan of ghost pepper sauce. It probably helps that the one I’m using now isn’t quite as intense as the last one I tried.

My parents are celebrating their 30th anniversary this weekend, and I wanted to try to recreate the wedding cake they had.

Just one problem - A grand total of nobody remembers what it looked like or even tasted like.

The only one who I've gotten a slight semblance of an answer from was my Grandma, and all she could say about it was that it had "berries and cream", but not which berries they were. (She said she was going to try to find some photos of the cake getting cut, though, so I hope I'll get to at least see what it looked like)

Still, though; I understand that a lot was happening at the wedding, but I still find it strange that not a single person remembers the cake. Isn't the wedding cake supposed to be the showstopper? Was it really that unremarkable? Mom attributes it to our neighbour, the one who planned the wedding, not being the best cook or baker - She was apparently the "Queen of sticky cake"^note "Sticky cake" is a chocolate cake that's supposed to be, well, sticky. It's supposed to feel almost underdone: In fact, it's better to have it be under-baked than over-baked. It's a Swedish-style fudge brownie cake, if you will., after all. All Grandma could say about it was that it "tasted good".

Mom said that I'm free to just make any type of cake I want, but I'm still super-disappointed. But I suppose I might make something with raspberries.

Update, I was able to make pancakes with mom. It mostly her teaching me how to do it, so that when I want to make one myself, I don't screw it up.

Good news, everyone! I have decided what I’m going to cook for the dinner I’m going to have while watching the Academy Awards. :) I’m going to cook a homemade version of the McRib, as shown in this here video that is funny and informative at the same time. I just hope y’all already ate before you watch it like I did.

I'm going to have some dumplings for dinner tonight. It's the only way I'll eat veggies, if it's steamed and softened along with meat.

I just had this funny thought about cooking. Is making a steak well done really that unpopular? Hence the joke from King of the Hill?

Bobby: What if somebody wants their steak well done?
Hank: We politely but firmly ask them to leave.

I don't eat steak often so IDK what the big deal is if people want less red.

I only have beef entrees (steaks, hamburgers, what-have-you) for dinner on Saturday. Unless it’s a special occasion like somebody’s birthday or something like that. Save the best for last, as they say. ;)

Gonna make some brownies today! Been craving them for a while. Then I'm gonna tackle Blastoise the Unrivaled. Solo. With a Vaporeon.

I should do that. I haven’t baked brownies for a long time. ^_^;;

Having worked in a kitchen that served steak the answer is kinda. True well done steak is very very rare forgive the pun, it’s difficult to do without burning it and people generally don’t go that far anyways in terms of wanting it.

I personally like medium to medium well but will never order or do true well done steak. This stands in contrast to my dad who loves rare to medium rare steak.

They're called black bottom cupcakes, with a chocolate layer on the bottom and a cream cheese custard-like top.

Made some iced orange ginger green tea! It's... not quiiite finished though? See, we only had one lemon and the recipe called for half a cup of lemon juice... and I was only able to get like. A sixth? Fifth? Of a cup out of that singular lemon.

I just remembered another classic cooking debate. Broiling vs. grilling: which do you prefer?

My easter dinner: Glazed ham steak, roasted brussel sprouts, and air fried sweet potato fries.

Amazing.

Bumping this thread with a fun idea I had. I figured out what I’m going to have for dinner after my day of fun at C2E2 on Sunday the 28th. I’m going to cook something I haven’t had since I was a kid: chili dogs. I’m going to watch the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie that evening; I got to coordinate, don’t I?

We have come chicken livers in the freezer at home, and since I can't see any other area of usage for them any time soon, I was considering using them to attempt making a Paté de Champagne this weekend.

But what other dishes can you make using chicken livers?
