This trope has already been repaired twice, but a recent read through makes me think we need another stab at it. Specifically, the tone. The examples and explanations are fine for the most part, but so many of them include hyperbolic threats against the life of any offender. Some of them basically come off as a threat to the reader. After a while, it just gets to the point of "yeah, I get it already." It portrays the fandoms, and especially the writers of the entries, as Fan Dumb, especially when either the actual typical fan reaction is mild annoyance and a brief correction at worst, or the "misconception" actually isn't one and the fans insist on their own views. For example, the monster in Godzilla 1998 supposedly shouldn't be referred to as Godzilla because the name was officially changed. However, the monster in the movie itself and the sequel cartoon are still trademarked as Godzilla because a work can't have its trademarks changed retroactively. All future versions of the monster are named Zilla, and so far have all been separate individuals. If an example like this one is going to stay, it should be pointed out that it's a "insisting on fanon" situation rather than an actual misconception on the non-fan's part.

Sorry for the wait, ~Draco Kanji.

Having us bring in the page a third time just to fix the tone is going to be overkill. If you're still concerned about the tone, I'm sure one of the Long-Term Projects threads has what you seek.
