That actually feels in line with Brithright where the intention there is to make it look as little like an S so the El clan symbol only coincidentally looks like one.

It's a very stylized S, very slick.

I think they should have made the top and bottom lines thicker. The top one is a little thicker, but it should be more, and the bottom line should be thicker all around the bottom point. That way it's still visible as an S, just written into the border.

I'm sure that style has been used before but I can't place it.

My first thought was Batman Beyond's Superman but he has an even more minimalist logo

eta: Kingdom Come in Red and yellow rather than Red and Black maybe?

Zack Snyder explains his scrapped Wonder Woman 1854 story concept

In Empire’s major new interview with Snyder – in The Acolyte issue – we posed him your reader questions. And among them came up the topic of Wonder Woman 1854, and what it might have been. Allow Snyder himself to explain. “The idea of that was an early riff we were doing: once Wonder Woman left the island in search of Ares, what happened to her in her different incarnations?” he states. “My idea for it was that she would travel around the world looking for Ares and she would go to every place where there was conflict.”

The resulting story would have been a combination of love and war. “On those battlefields she found these lovers, warriors, and they would age out because she is immortal,” he elaborates. “They would be her lover for ten years or they might die in battle, and it was probably sad for a lot of the guys because they would see her starting to be nice to the next young soldier and be like, ‘Oh, I’m being replaced.’ But all the guys that she had with her were those loyal warriors she found on the battlefields all over the world.”

Ultimately, the story would have led Diana to Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. “We talked about if Steve Trevor was there in Crimea,” Snyder confirms. Instead, Wonder Woman’s journey through the Snyder-verse took another path – but that one shot, from Stephen Berkman, remained. “It was never a screenplay, but we talked about it so much that it kind of had its own life.” There you have it: wonder no more.

So I hear they're gonna make a new DC movie universe because the current one is doing badly?

Yes, that’s public information — James Gunn is in charge of it, and the upcoming Superman movie is the start of the reboot. This is the current slate.

Peacemaker is continuing into the new universe, presumably with a touch of Broad Strokes continuity.

Gunn is bringing 3 great directors on board to help handle Peacemaker since he's also working on Superman.

Wonder who the directors are.

[up]x5

I honestly don't know how I would have felt about that version of Wonder Woman. The idea of her traveling around the world and getting involved in many different conflicts sounds like it would be ripe with potential.

However, I don't really have faith that Zack Synder and the DCEU could have executed that idea well. It probably doesn't help that the emphasis is on "lovers" only and not all the connections she makes on her immortal life. It sounds like the less savory aspects of Synder's writing especially when it comes to women.

Please don't kill him. It's not an essential part of Clark's backstory that his father die, and Man of Steel handled that plot point so terribly that I don't want to see it again.

[up] I mean, the original Pa Kent's death in the Reeves' Superman was just too perfect. Dying from a heart attack, something that Superman can't solve with his powers. That speaks of Superman's humanity.

So it would be nice to see what Pa Kent would be if he were alive to see his son become Superman as a different variety.

I'd really rather they not constantly make Pa Kent dying a thing just because one other movie decided to do it.

I tend to see stuff like Pa Kent having to die as part of the apathy Superman films tend to have towards his whole parental relationships in general, which is one of the things that contributes to the films not being great at connecting to Clark as a person.

Obviously the last two continuities killed him off because Superman films can get a bit crowded if the title character has to interact with three parents, so best-case scenario Kal-El's parents won't get any exposure in this film so that Clark's parents can be shown in a drama-free context.

Yeah, maybe they’ll focus less on Krypton for this one. All we need to Krypton to do is set up Clark, set up Zod, and maybe Brainiac.

I hope Brainiac shows up in the new movie.

Considering Brainiac has yet to be adapted to the big screen (and no the "Brainiac" in Superman 3 does not count) and both Luthor and Zod have been adapted twice, it's about time for him to show up along w/ other members of Supes' Rogues Gallery.

Yeah, Brainiac is such an underrated villain, and they already used Zod and Luthor at least twice.

Brainiac has all sorts of powers and tech to match Superman both brains and brawn.

Brainiac has been used a lot in other mediums though, particularly video games. Though that's not necessarily a problem for movie audiences.

I do hope the Kents live but I don't think because MoS did a plot point badly, 2025 can't use it.

eta: [down] Well that and I was also thinking of Injustice 2 and DC Online.
