The description of Dewey Defeats Truman fails to adequately explain what the trope is. The best I can get out of it is "a work predicts future events that turn out not to happen" as a subtrope of Alternate History.

First of all, it implies that every work set in the future (of the time it was written) is an Alternate History, which is not the way the term or trope is generally used.

Second, if that definition is accurate, it's People Sit on Chairs, as for it not to be eventually present in any work set in the future (from the author's perspective), there can be no mentions of the year the work is set or any events between the work's creation and its setting. Either that or the author is actually a psychic or time traveler who's spending their time writing novels instead of, I don't know, betting on sports or something.

While I acknowledge the lack of clarity of the title, per TRS rules you should perform a wick check to show that the trope is either not thriving or is being misused. You also cited "unclear description" as the problem, which could be taken to this thread instead.
