Okay, since some people haven't make the thread of this anime despite its popularity on the anime community and after searching it feels rather nonexistent. Time to make a thread on Arifureta. Anyways, before giving my thoughts, let me introduce you for those who don't know the anime and here's the story courtesy from its TV Tropes page:

"Among the class that was transported to another world, Nagumo Hajime is an ordinary male student who is daily bullied by his classmates for being an Otaku and getting the attention of the School Idol. The class is summoned to become heroes and save a country from destruction, students of the class are blessed with cheat specs and cool job classes, but that's not the case with Hajime, his job class is a "Synergist" and his stats are very normal (mediocre). " Synergist ", to put it in another word is just the artisan class. This doesn't stop the bullies, and during one of the live training in the dungeon a Trap puts the whole class, plus their Instructor and some knights into an impossible fight.

As they manage an escape route, Hajime's hit back by a stray fire ball shot by one of his classmates, making him fall down into the Abyss where he will make his own fate, balancing between promises and revenge."

Alright, I'd be honest with you... I haven't read the L Ns yet but I heard not so good reputation of this Light Novel even if I want to see it at a later future especially some people said it went downhill after Vol.3 iirc. But even then, I wanted to make this thread for the anticipation of the upcoming anime in Summer 2019 and I would love to discuss the LN much like Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka? even if I haven't read the source material yet. So, anyone hyped for this anime and do you guys wanted to discuss the LN in here?

I'd argue the decline comes halfway through the first novel, when it ditches the 'MC is weak as hell and needs to be creative to do anything' setup for 'nevermind he cheats his way into becoming virtually unkillable before the first volume ends'.

I dunno why I read this series, given how bad most of it is. I guess I like the idea of a whole class getting isekai'd. And the initial setup for Hajime. And Yue is an utter delight. But good god, the author just will not shut up about how utterly amazing Hajime totally is.

Hmmmm no wonder why Arifureta has a pretty shaky reputation because of how OP Hajime is no? Much like other Isekai protags

That does sound like your pretty standard 'weaksauce power gets parlayed into being OP' setup, especially if it happens that fast.

It's been fun.

Welp... What do you expect on the Isekai genre. But even then, I think I'll give Arifureta the credit where is due despite having not reading the LN yet. Heard that the manga didn't do a good job at adapting it

I'm a fan of the novels. Like yeah the main character is OP but in all honesty I find it really fun to read despite that. Yeah it's dumb but it's dumb in a way that I find funny. I'll probably pick up volume four this week which is the one I'm most interested in.

I'm looking forward to the anime though at the same time I'm worried that it might not clinch the humor as well as the novels do. While I enjoyed the darkness of the first volume, the turn to humor in volumes two and three and how well it's handled is what keeps me reading the series.

@Chariot Nice! Anyways, it would be interesting if Arifureta truly followed the LN despite some people said that the LN itself declined after Vol. 3 but even then, I'm gonna give this LN a credit where its due and wait if the anime adaptation truly shines or not.

And yeah, the studio who animate Akame Ga Kill, Steins Gate, Re;Zero and Goblin Slayer will animate Arifureta as far as I recall.

If nothing else, the stuff from volume 1 is pretty much the best content up until... whichever volume introduced Myu and volume 8 or 9, whichever is the latest translated officially.

Not sure how much will get adapted, but we better get to see Yue's insane spells.

A quick volume search tells me that the character you're talking about is introduced in volume four with the official translation being up to volume eight.

That early? Man, felt like it was a little later.

Well, look forward to volume four, then. I find Hajime to be at his most enjoyable with her around. More or less.

Btw. I think Arifureta's namespace is a little bit misplaced. It's listed on Literature and I'm moving this onto this namespace:

LightNovel.Arifureta

Is that good enough?

Fun first episode. Nothing like the MC undergoing Sanity Slippage, killing shit with guns transmutated from rocks and eating monsters raw.

[up] Will do my first impression of it but from what I heard... The anime skipped a lot of material from the LN which is an oomph. Oh well, let's see about it

Alright, since I watched the first episode, time to make the thread more lively again:

Episode 1:

So our main character is named Hajime, who used to be a coward of an adventurer who ended up turning into Kaneki 2.0. And yeah, the story tells us about how Hajime and his classmates accidentally got transported into a fantasy another world and Hajime himself? While he used to be a coward, ended up descending into madness and becomes Kaneki 2.0. who is able to defeat the monster bunny and then there's also girl sealed in something... I don't know who she is but yeah.

First impression: So far its kind of okay. Nothing special and question for the ones who read Light Novels: Did I miss anything?

This is very much a power fantasy wish fulfillment thing with edgy edge :P I'm not gonna say more, but this is one of isekais I detest more for how blatant it is about that

I read the manga. Is the lolicon fanservice still in the anime? I'd hope they would age up the girl who explicitly has the body of a twelve year-old, but I do not have high expectations.

I think I remember reading somewhere(probably trope page or isekai thread) that in novel version its more explicit than just fanservice tongue

Like I said, I really detest this one

I've read the novels up to volume four and I have no clue who you're talking about. Unless you mean Yue? But she's not a loli...

Yue was turned into a vampire as a 12 year-old and therefore still has a 12 year-old body. I imagine it's easier to ignore in the LN because she doesn't act like a 12 year-old, but the more visual mediums can't really hide it.

finally seen the first episode of Arifureta and oof, it's a rushed mess that doesn't explain anything and is just confusing to watch. had it been a 2-parter it would have been much better
