I'm going to split my thoughts on this episode into the A-side with Courtney; Jenny, Bones, and Love. And a B-side with The Shade and Pat.

Side-A: I don't know much on Infinity Inc. in the comics since I think it was created fairly recently when compared to other elements of the DC Universe. I think I saw it in Young Justice season 3 three when I watched it last year. Point being I don't know a good amount of the characters known save for Penny Dreadful who is familiar in some way. If Helix is just a home for those with biological abilities that are too afraid of them because they are so strong, so be it. What matters is that Jenny and Todd are now together and can have their own stuff until they come back to Blue Valley. There may be some parallels with Cameron Makent's ice powers but I watched last week's episode late so I am mildly disconnected from the show's intended flow. Helix Institute may have helped or hurt Cameron but he has only recent began embracing his Ice powers. So as soon as next week comes with Courtney's vigor, we can resume the tales of Not Quite Arrowverse Elsa since Courtney got her confidence back.

Side-B: During the these segments I felt more of a connection since we knew the rules of the Shadowlands and what the Shade can do being stuck there. I kept thinking "Tie yourselves to each other with cloth so you don't get lost." But that wasn't a big factor of the episode so not as frustrated. Pat and Richard continue having an amazing dynamic because The Shade brings out the best in a lot of the cast. The Shade may understand the rules to this game he was trapped in but that doesn't mean he isn't affected by the game. Pat meanwhile is more brave with his fears and darker memories probably as a part of Courtney's help. Because Pat is an ordinary human, he had to come to terms with a lot of his stuff already while The Shade continued to make the duo run in the Shadowlands.

Oh and Rick is definitely gonna need someone to get him off his high horse.

Sooo, could this signal a potential Helix-spinoff?

More Infinity Inc. Which is pretty funny since the actual Infinity Inc team doesn't appear and is just potentially the team Director Bones is making at the end

Season 3 will be this series' last one, according to Deadline.

Deadline understands the team behind DC’s Stargirl, like Nancy Drew, was given an early indication that this might be the final season and to write an ending that would reflect that. The decision is thought to have been made by the Nexstar executives.

his new life in the quiet town of Blue Valley. But when there’s a murder that needs to be solved, the mystery will not only have our heroes questioning the former super-villains’ commitment to truly reforming, but lead Courtney, Pat, and Starman to a secret that will shock them all to their very core.

“Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons,” Johns said. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet, with complete creative closure. The cast and crew are extraordinary, and I’d like to thank them for helping me bring this series to life. Brec embodied Courtney in every way possible — with grace, strength and humor — exceeding my wildest expectations. I am grateful to WBTV and The CW for giving us a home to tell this story and to honor my beloved late sister, and I’m beyond thankful to the press and fans who have always championed us for three amazing seasons. Most series never get this far. We couldn’t be more proud of our show and the fan community it’s built.”

Bassinger added: “Getting to play Stargirl and be a part of the DC Universe has been the greatest honor, and I am so grateful for every moment of it. I would like to thank our fearless leader Geoff Johns, along with WBTV, The CW, the cast and crew of Stargirl, and of course, the fans. Thank you. This show will forever live in my heart.”

Better than the writers going in blind at least.

Not a big surprise to me since I thought of this show being pretty expensive of a production to do so making this the last season is fine since it was almost done and Stargirl as a show didn't leave many cliffhangers compared to it's contemporaries.

Okay so Courtney is back and it seems that Lily Mahkent has finally reached the point of "Screw what my grandson wants, he will continue the family legacy." This episode shows that their cryokinetic family line came with the side effect of wrathful grief. You hurt a member of the Mahkent's and it's on sight and if you're a concerned art teacher asking if a student is okay, you are dead. I don't even think the person in the cave was anyone in the Mahkent family. They probably just baited the JSA into an attack, but that didn't stop Rick. That battle between Rick and Cameron was like two ungulates locked in combat because of how unstable both were. I think we were close to having a moment where characters talked out important secrets, but the JSA fight was the obligatory fight scene and it handled the traditional CW falling out moment. But they deserve the benefit of the doubt since even if the JSA were the aggressors, they saved Sofus from his heart attack. The most they should get then would be a "Get out and don't come back!" I don't have much to say on Mike and Jakeem's plot since I have no idea who the yeti like beast is or where is Cindy. The Crocks were once again MV Ps of this episode; like Crusher helping Pat with his traumas by giving the feeling he likes Pat as a friend, to Barbara telling Paula that she considers her a friend, to Artemis coming to the assist of the JSA even if her costume is still villainous. I also appreciate the moments of Pat talking to his wife about Mike's mom. I just don't have much to say on that. My hope is that Pat and Mike go on a road trip to see Mike's incarcerated mom so Mike and Pat get that closure, but I am okay with this being a loose sub plot.

[up] That beast is Ultrahumanite I'd say.

And yes. The Crocks absolutely rock in this show.

Pretty good episode. And I'm just gonna say, Rick deserved a good humbling ass-kicking.

I lol'd looking at the Recap page, seeing the Image and the Caption Somehow Icicle returned.

And yeah, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I think Ultra Humanite would've been enough.

Agreed, not what to make of it either. RIP the Crocks. They were entertaining, and I liked how they were actually helping and friends. And there was actually attention and time devoted to showing why and how. But I guess they were making too much progress and it couldn't last.

Artemis saying she got into her dream school and that they were on their way home was raising way too many doom flags.

Yeah, I know. It really was. TBH, it was telegraphed from that first montage of the episode. They were just too satisfied and happy.

The very first montage showed that the movie showing was called "Lovers die at dusk" so that was very foreshadowed. But I absolutely loved the Crocks as characters. They were fun and so very entertaining.

Yeah, I wasn't surprised about Jordan faking turning over a new leaf.

Also, I've had enough of Sylvester, seriously. What an asshole.

since Jordan is back with some agenda, whispering in the ears of all those he held close. I miss Richard Swift. He would be able to see through the lies of this not nice ice man and fill the hole left by the Crocks in delightful anti-heroes. Also I am glad they had the scene where the Thunderbolt couldn't turn him Muggle because his powers keep him alive.

1) I think Sylvester needs to be taken down a peg.

2) Barbara was great, with Artemis and not buying Jordan's shit.

[up] More right than you knew on that first point.

Wow this episode last was a ride. But, y'know, I could see it. I really hope they can wrap it up in a satisfying way, because dang this deserves it.

Agreed. Man, I knew Sylvester was a complete jerk. But did not expect him to actually be Ultra Humanite

Hot damn! Ultra-Humanite really did deserve that acting award way back when. Not sure if I can give the same kind of respect to Joel McHale because as foreshadowed as this twist probably was, I'm not sure if we the audience were given enough clues. I like my fair share of mystery plots but if there are more engaging things happening I will be focusing more on that. I really don't know if this twist was actually foreshadowed or if this twist came from nowhere or the limitations of a weekly run TV drama.

[up] I think it was low key foreshadowed. For one thing, as pointed out, some of Sylvester's jerkass moments that seemed like him purposely trying to make things worse... were.

Alright, that was certainly an episode full of twists. Not sure how much of it was really planned from the start, but I liked it. Hoping the best for Pat.

So....that was it. Except for Mr. Bones, everybody got to have a clear resolution for their storyline. That's not something you see often, especially when a Series ends unexpected!

I mean yeah, you could tell that they were originally setting things up for a 4th Season and had to quickly produce a reshoot (that being Shade's scene in the end) to wrap everything up, but I appreciate the effort.

I'm gonna miss this series. It was a good run, and way too short, unfortunately.
