Despite having a tv tropes page... I'm surprised that this manga or the upcoming anime adaptation doesn't have a forum for discussion yet. I know it won't going to be the most popular thing to ever come out this summer. However, I felt that I'm cool to make the thread dedicated to discuss the anime itself if it got come out in Summer. And this thread is also nice for discussing the spoilers of the manga too. (Even if I havent read it) Btw, for those who don't know Muhyo and Roji...Here are the basic plot taken from its TV Tropes page:

"This manga follows the adventures of Muhyo and Roji and their bureau of supernatural investigation as they confront spirits, traitors, and, quite often, each other. But they don't just banish ghosts. They sentence them with magic law, which is pretty much what the entire manga revolves around. Magic Law was established as a way to prevent the rising rates of crimes committed by ghosts, through sentencing them to various punishments for their crimes, and through those sentences, sending them to heaven, hell, or anywhere in between."

And I also heard that despite is cutesy artstyle, it isnt for the faint of heart... Probably kind of. Like Made in Abyss or Yakusoku Neverland... But regardless, let the discussion of the manga begin!!!

I used to read this manga many years ago back in middle school and high school. It's pretty underrated. It starts off as being a monster of the week type manga before getting pretty serious with the Ark saga. I liked it. Decent characters and good art.

I had no idea it was getting an anime adaptation. I hope it goes well.

[up] Let's cross our fingers that this anime could be at least a decent one and could at least do the manga justice. Given that I think the first half of the manga is finished I guess?

And I wont be surprised if the show ended up becoming an Ensemble Dark Horse for summer animes btw

Alright... Given that the first episode is already released in my country... I'm gonna give my thoughts:

Man I feel bad for the client in the first episode though. She had... A little bit of an interesting backstory. Still, glad that the dead girl is actually saved even though she was supposed to be the Starter Villain for the first episode I guess and was supposed to be punished into hell... I think I missed something. Gotta read the manga for confirmation. And yeah, we now know who will be the main villain is

It's a bit weak, to be honest. Other than the story for the client, it was all pretty generic and straightforward. It's not bad, just doesn't do anything to stand out, in my opinion.

[up] Ah its understandable... Though the monster in the first episode is still creeping me out. And hey! Im cool if this anime has a room for improvements so yeah.

Oh, absolutely. It may not be my personal cup of tea, so I won't be following it, but there's still a lot to like here, and plenty of room for improvement. Here's hoping it turns out well!

Saw episode 2:

Well they skipped into Chapter 5 and frankly I haven't read it yet. But man, one of the new character's story is a little bit tear-jerking like in the first episode. Luckily the ghost ended up going to heaven though. And this character in question would be one of the characters who would support Muhyo and Roji at later future I guess? And her name is Nana. P.S. The ghosts still terrifies me.

Saw Episode 3:

Today's episode is an adaptation of the third and ninth chapter and they skipped some of the cases... Ah well, at least it's still had an okay plot and is a bit enjoyable to say the least. Also, I think chapter 10 is where the story kicks in. I wonder how they will adapted it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say this. Episode 4:

Today's episode is about Muhyo, Roji and Nana goes to the Magic School Academy and not Major League Soccer (MLS). And damn, that mouth ghosts creeps me out. I guess in next episode would be the fight against Enchuu.

Episode 5:

Okay, I didn't recall some of the scenes in the manga of this episode. But at least they try to follow Enchuu's story faithfully. Will have to admit that it's still heartbreaking.

They adapted the hot springs part and man I feel really bad for the writer.

The living writer or the ghost writer? Because if found both of them unsympathetic.

@Comun Late reply but I do feel bad for that ghost writer. Not a big fan of the real writer as I didn't found him that sympathetic.

Also, Episode 7:

Muhyo and Roji goes to spirit prison and they will face a dangerous spirit known as Face Ripper Sophie accompanied by new allies, Rio and Biko. Tbh, I wonder why they ended up being in prison instead of being executed.

Episode 8 (I know I'm late but still):

A flashback episode about Biko and her mentor, Rio. And now Muhyo and co tries to fight against Sophie that recently escaped...She's a piece of work alright and the ending is rather creepy.

Late thoughts on Episode 9:

Man, Sophie is rather creepy and despicable as well. But then again, her excuse is a little bit understandable even if it doesnt hold up. Also, that cliffhanger though.

I'm not sure what was the purpose of Sophie's backstory, but if it was to make her minimally symphathetic, I think it still failed.

Episode 10:

After watching this episode. I really want to punch those jerkass MLA members in the face regardless of their age. Seriously though, poor Rio. And yea, having read the chapters when Rio turned evil and this was expected that Rio won't turning back now until the later chapters.

Episode 11:

Enchuu is sure is rather creepy. Meanwhile, Muhyo and co tries to cure Rio but has a trouble due to Enchuu. The battle against Enchuu's monster will be in the next episode I guess.

Final Episode:

Enchuu is still a formidable opponent and Muhyo and co needs to watch out about Tiki (Teeki in manga translation) figure. And the story just ends in there while the Forbidden Magical Association is still at large. Also, I read the manga but I forgot if I recall some of the scenes from the final so yeah...

Final Verdict? I think it's an alright anime at the end. Not good but not bad either. Serviceable at the end of the day. While the anime is rather unpopular, it would be nice to see the continuation.

I also hope so. I really liked some parts of it, especially Rio's character. The only problems to me where the initial cases and Roujii's character.
