When I'm writing a story, I often think about its theme in the middle of brainstorming the story. But I when I think about one topic, lots of others pop up in my head. For example, one story has themes of sin, redemption, infestation, what is evil, and religion. Would that be too many themes, or is that not an issue as long as they tie together?

Infestation seems like a plot element, not a theme, but besides that, they're all closely related.

The themes and ideas that pop up in your head during brainstorming are not always transcribed onto paper. The themes and ideas that appear in the first draft do not always live to see the publishing of the book they first appeared in.

Just start writing.

Spiral out, keep going.
