Mort looks at Jeremy. "Lots of things, boy." Mort says, his voice gravelly. "Most of what I could tell you wouldn't help, at least not if you still want to get out of here. I can tell you that if you want to settle down, as Nick, you can do that anywhere before Sweet Water. Silvia... if she stops, she'll probably find herself back in Springfield or Fork. Springfield isn't bad, as long as you listen to Reverend White. He makes sure things stay in their place. Fork's the place for people who ask questions but don't really want the answers."

Mort tries to take a deep breath, then starts coughing in hacking spasms. When he recovers, he continues softly. "I can tell we're past Fork, but I don't know if you went North or South. If we went North, watch out for m' brother, Mars, he's got a temper. If we went South, you can ask the Witch Doctor for more but watch out for Wen-Shen. At least with my brother you know when he's planning to kill you. Wen-Shen can be all smiles and soft words even as he carves your heart out."

Mort lays back. "If you got a question, ask, but make sure its one you want to hear the answer to. After that I think... I'll need to rest for a spell..."

Jeremy didn't like what he was hearing, especially regarding the apparent difference between himself and Silvia here. "That doesn't sound fair for her..." Jeremy muttered, glancing to Silvia, then looking back at Mort. "Okay, just one more thing for now. What is this place?" the amateur photographer asked seriously.

"You could always give her the coat, let HER settle down as Nick." Mort says. He sighs, taking a deep breath. "You're past Fork, so I can tell you some things, but it's better for you to work things out for yourself. The bare bones is this is a place for people who are stuck. You can choose to stay stuck, or if you get to Sweet Water you can get unstuck. Most of the people you see are people who have settled down. For them, by now, there is only one path waiting for them in Sweet Water. You both have at least two paths. One path will be painful to travel, but it's there for you if you choose that path, AND get to Sweet Water in time."

Silvia decided to believe she was dreaming, since she had experienced lucid dreams before, priority one was stopping the boogy man she saw earlier. She grips shiv in pocket.

"There is someone outside."

Jeremy would prefer to get more of a straight answer and more answers still from Mort, but the man was still wounded, and now there was more pressing matters, too. "What? Where?" Jeremy asked, tone urgent but now keeping his voice down.

"I'll assist you, Silvia," Commander Stroo and equips his Baton.

Mort has gone into a recovering sleep, so Mort doesn't see the vaguely potato-looking figure weilding a baton.

"Okay, you go find that scary guy who was hiding." She said to probably dream figment outside. "And don't lose your teeth, it's so freaky when that happens."
