Oy, that's illegible. Motion to pull.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt hurts me, but that's indeed a case of a good example but a bad pic. Declare Exterminatus.
I know it isn't actually an example, but we could use Da Rules◊ as a joke image with a funny quote like "and this book just covers character creation"
I think the book is big enough to suggest lots of rules even if it has nothing to do with a game system.

(Annoyed grunt)Clock is set.
You know...I could take a pic of my bookshelf where I have all of my old 40K rulebooks and codexes...would that work?
Are the titles clearly visible?
Check out my fanfiction! Will that solve the illegibility issue noted for current?
I'll try to get it done tonight, I'm pressed for time ATM.
If I remember, I'll also see if I can throw together an rulebook collage.
Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less.I don't think being illegible is a dealbreaker, since the point is to show that there are a ton of rules, so it doesn't really matter what they are. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Keet cleanupI'm actually in the same boat, though I'd like to see how Willbyr's picture turns out. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

I think that works.

13.2 is good. The only issue is that it is at least three different editions of the rules rather than a single one.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellSo not only do you have a bunch of books to keep track of everything, you need new versions of the bunch of books just to be on the same page as everyone else.
Check out my fanfiction!Pretty much. There are also books for 2 different games (3 if that is the Warmaster rulebook I see at the extreme left) in 13.1
EDIT: Here are mine with all the current 8th Edition 40K rulebooks (and a couple of Gaiden Game books) minus the one released today and the one on pre-order today.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellAll of the 8th edition Chaos books, plus the core rule book and the Hard-copy of the rules update. Only missing Daemons, which I don't own and World Eaters, which isn't out yet.

That is the less glarey of the two I took but they were only quick ones I took before going to work. I will try to take a better pic tomorrow but it will more likely be on Monday as Sunday is the busiest day for the restaurant I work in, even more so at Easter.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellHow's this version?

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellThat's good.
Not fond of the books. The spines are really hard to read and I am not sure they mean anything to someone not into Warhammer.
If we gotta go the book way, 19.3 is the only one with readable spines.

I am not sure how to depict the trope otherwise. Something like this that I just quickly made maybe or is it too big with too small writing.

Nominations for replacement images:
Image is too big and the text is too small. The caption is also really long.
