Did Tails do anything?

Does being Sonic's cheerleader and scout reader yet again count as anything?

I mean, he cowered when Chaos 0 attacked him. Keep in mind, he fought off Chaos FOUR just fine.

:( poor Tails! I guess they don't know how to write him as anything but 'the nonplayable sidekick'.

Checked out the final boss. Man those robots are ugly XD; They're not even red and yellow like a lot of Egg-mechs. The final phase's background was dizzying.

....I just feel so bad after all the hype and the speculation we got 'the returning villains are hard light copies' and stuff XD;

And also I really want to know what, if anything, this means about the Hard Boiled Heavies. I'm gonna be mad if they're not canon.

Constructs could actually be a good idea if used well. But they really wasted them.

Rouge really had a lot of Dull Surprise going on. When she spoke over the communicator in a cutscene I had no idea who it was until her portrait popped up during the actual fight. The fight itself, and especially the ending cutscene, reminded me of the 'mandatory line' problem Sonic Generations had where everyone said something even if it was meaningless. I kinda feel like everyone else's fight with the hard light army would've been more interesting to see or play.

On the plus side I liked seeing the background Mobians ^^ Seeing Team Dark being all happy with everyone was kinda funny. The Avatar's gameplay reminds me of Bionic Commando from what I've seen.

EDIT: I think my biggest issue is that the story seems kinda unfinished. Sonic Adventure 1, 2, Heroes, and '06 had fairly open endings but still resolved the major plot points, but this one just kinda stops and leaves a lot of loose ends. Lost World had the same issue regarding the Deadly Six.

Yeah the enemies in this game look pretty uninspired.

So do the Phantom Ruby's illusion powers impact Mania at all? I heard that like half the game might have been Classic Sonic hallucinating. D:

The Phantom Ruby is what sent him to Forces and turned Five Eggrobos into the Heavies. The King even trying to usurp Eggman after he proved incompetent too many times.

Also can hurt Super Sonic unlike Eggman.

The Master Emerald was addressed in one of the prequel comics.

Even though Eggman was RIGHT THERE, just as Knuckles and Silver run off leaving it unguarded, he decides that he doesn't even need to take the Master Emerald with how well the Phantom Ruby worked.

And while it didn't come back to bite him, Eggman still made a really dumb decision not to take it :v

Wait, the comic implied he grabbed the real Chaos from the past/another dimension while the game says Chaos is a copy.

It did? I don't remember the comic implying that.

I can't say the story was garbage because sonic and Infinite's interactions were pretty fun to watch. Underwhelming somewhat and wasted potential(which is honestly a good majority of J-dev stories) but not what I'd call garbage, especially compared to 06.

I do find it a bit annoying we kind of know so little about Infinite...like we don't even know what animal he is!

Forces' story was written by Warren Graff, who worked on everything from Colors on, and Shun Nakamura, whose only other Sonic story credit was '06, so the tonal differences between their writing styles may be why it feels uneven in places.

Graff only did localization, mang.

He did a good job this time. usually I find his sonic take pretty corny. But this time sonic was legit, though there's like two lines that were delivered really oddly, but that's on the VA.

"It's been generations since I've seen you."

I wonder where the series will go story-wise after this.

Why did the Final Boss get such a dull and uninspired name?

Especially since it has nothing to do with the Death Egg, and there's other robots in the same game already named Death Egg Robots.

Because everything else about the final boss is dull and uninspired.

I have a feeling this'll follow the trend of a well received sonic game (mania in this case) being followed by a couple melodramatic rubbish ones. Getting some serious '06 vibes from this one.

The guy who wrote Sonic 06's story also wrote this one.

Main difference being that this game wasn't rushed horribly.

I actually laughed at some of Sonic's lines this time.

Yea this game is trash. Boring, uninspired trash with nothing unique or good about. And I feel sorry for anyone who were hyped and ended up disappointed with what we got.
