It's always something that bewildered me. Both are points in something which fans regard as marking an improvement or a decline. And yet, Growing the Beard has examples, but Jumping the Shark has a no-example policy. Why is this? The reason cited is that it could lead to arguments and is highly subjective. But is the same not true for Growing the Beard? I don't think so. A point where people think something got better isn't really any less subjective/argument-inducing than a point where people think something got worse.

It certainly leads to less drama to say that a thing got better than that it got worse. Negativity is disproportionally toxic.

I think it was less that it could lead to drama, and more that it actually did. Examples used to be allowed, but aren't anymore because of the problems it created.

Most tropes start out with allowing examples (especially older pages, like Jumping the Shark), but sometimes there are so many problems that it's just not worth cleaning it.

Discussions on when a show hits its stride isn’t liable to cause flame wars with fanboys, there might be some differing opinions on exactly when but it’s usually around a specific season.

Jumping the Shark however is a whole other story.
