Current image is mildly JAFAAC (especially since it's hard to tell it was supposed to be scary). I'd like to suggest the last two panels of this instead.

I think the current has three things going for it. First — and admittedly the weakest — is that it's a weird space ape thing. It could easily be a Monster of the Week. The second is that it's a black and white image, which to me conveys that it's either from a long time ago or meant to be a parody of really old films. Y'know, those films where basically anything could be the monster of the movie. The third thing, and I think this is the strongest thing going for the current, is the monster's posturing. That looks either like a creature trying (and miserably failing) to be sneaky or to reach out and grab someone. Y'know, like a monster might.

I think it's good enough to keep as the page image, and I say that without ever having seen the film. I think it's reasonable to think this is supposed to be a scary creature, and it's clearly not scary — at least by today's standards.
