Finding Dory or finding her parents...?

I saw "Finding Dory" a while ago and was kinda expecting more from it. I wasn't really disappointed but I felt as if it had soo much more potential. It all seemed just like a wild goose chase. And soo much new characters were introduced all because dory suddenly remmebers them made it seem hard to digest, but I loved how instead of under water they showed whats happening above. But all that reality they introduced made the movie seemed kind of boring. But I liked it though but idk sequels in general have a hard to living up to their starting point.
