The game is set during the First Cylon War of the Reimagined series, not in the 70's series. If it were the 70's universe, the devs would have said so when asked if Lucinda Cain is related to Helena Cain. Also the music in that trailer is straight out of the 2000's series.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyUgh, they really need to clarify that to the media. There's actually two preview articles out there (Polygon being one of them) that stated they were using the original series instead of the remake. Oh well, glad to have that cleared up!
It looks interesting, either way. I've been interested in the re-imagined BSG series for a while now, and this looks good.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw....
Black Lab tells Polygon that the game will take place during the First Cylon War, and cover the events that transpired between Battlestar Galactica and the spin-off series called Caprica, both of which aired on the Syfy network.
...
Black Lab says that it worked with NBC Universal and Galactica’s original showrunners to flesh out the story and the units on both sides of the conflict. Expect to see saucer-shaped Cylon ships and chromed out, 1970’s era robots. Rather than a 60-year old wreck, Deadlock’s battlestar-class Colonial ships will be top-of-the-line vessels and will fight alongside many other never before seen types of ships.
So, they are using the 70's era designs for Cylons, because in-universe that's what they looked like during the first war.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyIndeed. The Centurions we see in the re-imagined series are new models, the same as the slimmer and more angular Basestars.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.They do a nod to that in the show too - when the humans send their delegate to the rendezvous point you can see the officer leafing through intel documents that show the original cylon designs as a sort of acknowledgement of the original show.
This one looks a tad like Battlefleet Gothic in how it handled movement and firing arcs, but with a bit more in terms of vertical movement. I'm intrigued, especially if there's a story side and not just skirmish modes.
I be there will be. We don't really know anything about the Cylon War, just flashbacks and what we get in Blood and Chrome. This could be a good chance to expand.
The turn-based yet simultaneous turn-running thing is interesting too
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The Polygon interview mentioned the story mode being built around set piece battles with lesser missions in between them. Or something like that.
The OG Centurions also appear a couple of other times throughout the series - most notably during Daybreak. If I'm not mistaken, it was that specific scene that got them the Emmy nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series. Daybreak got multiple Emmy nominations, and one win, although all for technical categories.
Anyways, assuming this turns out good I'll be grabbing it for PS 4.

Looks interesting; though do you have to manually make your ships do point defense? I don't think I saw any ships trying to shoot down missiles as they came at them.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Heads up, launch day is August 31st. That is to say, like three days away.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyOh wow, that was fast. And this was revealed back in like June or July?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.A few reviews have been released so far, and it's getting a decent reception, though complaints about the voice overs, graphical details being subpar, and lack of graphics settings are common. Karak from ACG seems to have the most through review yet.

Kinda surprised nobody else posted this, especially given how close to release the game is, but we've finally got ourselves a turn-based strategy game set in the Reimagined BSG universe with an emphasis on fleet vs fleet action. The combat involves simultaneous turns, meaning you'll need to predict the enemy's tactics and movements. Sadly this isn't true three-dimensional space - while you can change elevation on a plane, you cannot go beyond those limits like in Homeworld.
