Does it have to be on the correct level too?

Like killing Krillen has to happen on Namek?

Probably for some of them (like the Beerus and Goku one) but most of those don't seem like they would need a specific stage.

They're probably skippable when they happen, too.

It’s pretty likely that there’ll be a way to turn them off, given that they’re just there for flavor.

The closest analogue I can think of from Arc Sys is the character specific Instant Kills in their Hokuto no Ken game, and some of those could be a little length like Yuda vs. Rai, but as those all happen at the end of the round it's no big deal.

It's possible these will be abridged enough to not be too distracting since some happen mid-match.

Speaking of the cinematic pieces, a new Jump Festa gameplay shows off what happens when Goku and Freeza are set as team leaders on Planet Namek. ^note The famous Super Saiyan transformation. Krillin doesn't need to be on the team to trigger it, obviously.

Also, Beerus has his Hakai.

So there are cinematics that happen just from entry. With finisher ones, entry ones and mid-battle ones, that's a lot of variety. I'm trying to think of a list of one's we're most likely to see for everyone.

It'd be cool if we could have Tien's Shin Kikoho scene, even if he didn't do it to Perfect Cell.

I love that they incorporated Beerus' swirly purple ki balls that he uses and played with in Super and his Hakai. I think this would be the first game to include either, all previous depictions of Beerus had his moveset entirely taken from Battle of gods, when he's evolved as a character since then. Curious how the Hakai is going to function.

Going off of the scans, what I think it is is that he has his forehead-flick from BOG that he used to beat SS 3 Goku. But if he uses the move as the finishing blow against Goku Black, the animation changes to him Destroying Goku Black.

It would be cool if after Beerus erases Black from existence, he can’t be brought back with the dragon ball wish.

Yeah...that would probably violate Rule of Fun and would be unbalanced in fighting game terms. That won't happen.

So, a few I think are pretty likely - minus ones we’ve already seen. Because I’m a nerd, and like to list things.

There may be some that are both entrance ones and mid-battle ones (Freeza killing Krillin, for example, might still happen if you lose as Krillin and Goku is your next character).

• Goku & Vegeta Entrance: Surprisingly there aren’t too many great moments for this, but they’re going to get one, so I’m thinking maybe the stare down between Goku and Majin Vegeta.
• Goku & Krillin Entrance -> World Tournament -> the fistbump from Dragonball.
• Goku & Tien: they should have at least one, but I can’t think of one atm. It’d be nice to see Goku get hit by a truck if Tien wins.
• Tien -> defeat Yamcha -> Tien breaks Yamcha’s leg.
• 18 -> defeat Vegeta with her attack throw -> 18 breaks Vegeta’s arm(s)
• 18 and Krillin Entrance -> the kiss on the cheek from Android Saga.
• Piccolo and Goku Entrance -> in addition to the one I posted above, there’s also this
• Teen Gohan gets shafted the most, I think. Ginyu and/or the other members of the Force have moments with Goku, Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan, but even if you give Gohan his younger moments, he doesn’t have much.
• Piccolo -> defeat Krillin with a spike -> from Dragonball: Krillin hits the ground, staggers to his feet, then sits down and gives up.
• Vegeta -> Defeat Nappa -> Nappa’s death scene.

More to come!

This is the first fighter besides Tekken with custom intros in ages. I hope they start the trend back up.

I think Goku vs Vegeta entrance could be their stand-off and poses from their first fight.

The Black/Zamasu hug has to be a win pose.

Their entrance could be the acrobatic flips they do at the start of their second fight.

Blazblue had cinematic intros from its first game up, but I don't think I've ever seen a game with 3D models have anything like this.

Those are mostly just people talking and clashing with one another, without any new assets made just for it, unlike this and some of the older 2-D fighters like KOF.

Word! It's always a fun touch.

Trunks' Spirit Sword and Black shivving Vegeta are two other possibilities.

I wonder how specific the conditions for these get. Can you still see the Frieza-Goku opening if someone has Krillin on their team, or do you still get the outro if Namek hasn't been burnt by someone's super?

I think maybe some of them have multiple triggers, or at least I hope so. Like, the Freeza killing Krillin one happens if you start the match with Goku, but maybe might also happen if you defeat Krillin with Freeza while Goku is the opponent's next character. The cutscene works just as well as a reset as the regular transitions.

It would be a little weird mid-match considering Goku's always at least Super Saiyan in this game, so if you've tagged him in even once it wouldn't make any sense.

I find it funny how most of the Saiyan's (except Nappa & Ultimate Gohan) are fighting permanently in Super Saiyan mode.
