Opened. I think the problem with this one is that it's potentially easy to confuse the LV with Level.
What about a variety of them?

HP (for health), MP (for magic), and SP (for "special" or special abilities) are all relatively standard...
I originally only had one reason why I didn't like the crowner suggestion (current OP). The font makes it kind of confusing as to whether the thing on the bottom left is "LV" or "LU." In the game, you can figure it out pretty easily, but in a single image, it kind of looks like either. Especially since you cannot tell that the font is different in the speech bubble (there is no capital U to contrast with the "LV" in the bottom corner).
However, after thinking about it some more, I think it's a bit confusing as an illustrative example. The real meaning of "LV" is a spoiler to later in the game, but it's a subversion / fake out (I don't know exactly what to call it). I'm not really sure if it should be the trope image if the game considers it a kind of "level" when LV usually means "level."

The problem with non-HP examples (which I presume we want to prevent the trope from looking too narrow) is that they don't tend to be obvious without knowledge of the source. Maybe we need to find a webcomic that lampshades it?

] Too subtle for my taste.
Too small and IMO we should show a variety of them.
Edit: Nevermind. There is a small "halo" around each color (even on the PNG) that prevents me from resizing without resampling.

Ok but then what? I mean it doesn't show what it is aside from different resource meters. Also still really small and blurry at that size.
