Looks pretty I'll give it that. Never played God Eater, but I guess we'll see how this turns out.
Guess it was just a matter of time before the genre got its anime entry.
Looks very edgy for the sake of being edgy.
Then it should fit right in.
Yeah, but I don't think anyone has any expectations for the narrative here either way.
From my understanding the writing in God Eater wasn't edgy but nothing to write home about either. The main point of praise I always heard was for Go Shiina's music.

Playing through God Eater right now, I'd say the gameplay is well designed but it's missing something for a proper hook, and I can't put the finger on what it is.
I'm sort of lukewarm on Code Vein for now.
My main complaint about God Eater was that the weapons were boring. I really didn't care what weapon I was using because they all felt the same and all played the same. For a game that was kind of trying to do what Monster Hunter and Toukiden do, having boring weapons is not a good thing. When making a Souls-like game, weapons and fighting styles are again a key factor. We'll see if they do better this time around.
Here's some extra info:
- Code Vein is being made on a separate development line from the God Eater series, as a way to take on a new challenge.
- When asked if there are any connections to God Eater, Tomizawa says they’re advancing through its development to make it into a new title that can offer a new gaming experience.
- The developers described the meaning behind the English word of “Vein” and “Code.” They want you to think of it as “codes for blood.”
- “Vein” is the name of the closed world that players will be exploring in Code Vein. Here, you’ll try to find its hidden truth.
- They’re calling the genre for it a “dramatic dungeon-exploring action RPG.” It’ll involve exploring the adjoining areas with tense atmosphere, as explore and travel. They feel that its strong sense of accomplishment sets it apart from your average genre of “dungeon-exploring action RPG.”
- You’ll get to go on a journey with a “Buddy,” in a game with difficulty that might make you quit if it were solo, but said to bring an even bigger sense of accomplishment from its many obstacles you’ll have to overcome.
- Your “Buddy” is controlled by AI, but there will be times where the players will need to help their Buddies.
- Code Vein is being made with Unreal Engine 4.
- They can’t share a clear answer for which hardware it is being made for, but they plan to release it on console.
- A new trailer is expected to be revealed in early-May.
- They aim to make it a worldwide title from Japan.
- As the team leader, Yusuke Tomizawa will oversee both God Eater and Code Vein.
So I totally thought this was gonna be From Soft's multiplatform spiritual successor to Bloodborne based on the first teaser...
So, basically Anime Souls? Looks interesting, I'll keep my eye on it.

Interesting. Dark Souls where all the bosses are like Dancer of the Boreal Valley. I could get behind that.
One thing I'm worried about is that the few shots they show of the character swinging his sword seems extremely light. I'm worried that in typical anime fashion they're gonna swing zweihanders around like rapiers and the weapons won't feel like they have any weight to them, which is another intrinsic thing that made Dark Souls and Monster Hunter great for me.
Its not gonna be released until 2018, and I'm all for a faster souls like after Nioh showed how it can be done.
I'd say to give it time.
Watch SymphogearIt's not so much the speed as it is the animation, I think. He can slash away like Sonic on speed if he likes, I just hope they tweak the animation of the weapon swings.
Gotcha.
If they are smart enough, Bandai will have the God Eater devs give out multiple betas like Koei did for Nioh.
Watch SymphogearNioh but even more anime?
Mileena MadnessJudging by how I almost confused one of those monsters for Hatsune Miku, I'd say definitely more anime.
"Anime Dark Souls" is just what I've been waiting for. I hope they won't lock us into a character though, that was the one thing that bugged me in Nioh. I also wish they kept Soulsborne's gothic aesthetic, since the post-apocalyptic setting looks a little too much like God Eater, probably too early to judge.
Combat looks nice and plenty bloody. Looks like it's going to be more Bloodborne and Nioh-esque in terms of combat and speed.
Story is read stuff to understand what the hell is going on. Everyone like Metroid Prime. :V
Mileena MadnessEveryone's Waifu in the thumbnail.
Watch SymphogearSo is there character creation, will it be on PC, and GIMMEGIMMEGIMME
Some gameplay
Already looking good.
If they have any open alphas or betas, I'll definitely give Them a try down the road.

Watch SymphogearDefinitely looks like Anime Dark Souls, though it looks good enough to stand on its own merits.
I hope for God Eater skins as a DLC thing.
Watch Symphogear
The gme will be out on "major consoles" and PC in 2018.
First screenshots are out:
