In retrospect, the "Gohan needs to be level 140" message would have been an obviously clearer choice than the level-gain message.
I don't have a screenshot of that handy at the moment. Though a similar screenshot from any game with a mechanic like that would work just as well.

But levels are just a gameplay abstraction — how are you even making this demand?
Arbitrarily, I grabbed a screenshot while playing Final Fantasy XIV.
And added a caption expressing the appropriate indignation, though it could probably do with being more concise.
