The suggestion is certainly interesting, but I dunno how effective of an illustration it is.

- Suggestion doesn't make me think of hypnotization because the beam is not aimed at the head.
- Current has more cues than the already mentioned one: (b) the creatures eyes and (c) the fact that this ugly, phlegmatic thing won any first price makes mind control a real possibility
- My monitor is very forgiving when it comes artifacts - not seeing anything out of line in current.

Honestly i have doubt if this is a real trope (mostly example are covered in Hypnotic Eyes and Mind Manipulation).

Clock is set. I've done a quality upgrade to the current pending other ideas coming in.

First, the image is pretty artifacted. Okay, presumably we can find an upgrade for that. However, I feel the current page image is there more for its memetic-ness than actual illustrative strength. The hypnosis is only vaguely apparent because two of the referees sort of seem entranced (?). Again, hard to tell because of poor quality. Plus, it's the Trope Namer, which tends to make tropes look more narrow anyway.
This is just any animal that can hypnotize others without biological invasion. First replacement suggestion: Hypoctus Slymerius.
