I'm ambivalent on adding it to the page, but I do think that, provided there's not already one that was suggested in the previous namespace icon discussions and it looks good at icon size (16x16 pixels), it will work.
Bumping after a dozen days... yeah, I'd be inclined to go with Japanese text for the page image.
Google Search suggests haiku is actually 2 characters in Japanese instead of only one... anyone more well versed in Japanese in a position to either confirm or refute that?

I don't know much about Japanese, but I imagine it's one character in kanji, and two characters in katakana or hiragana.
I think Haiku did have a top-bar icon until one of the site redesigns.
Clock is set.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI'm not entirely sure what's to be gained as having this as the page image. First of all coz the character can just be added to the definition (We do support japanese character). Plus adding an image will mess with the formatting by pushing some of the lines to the left. Lastly, what's the value of having the page image for a word just be the SAME word in another language? Show us a Japanese Haiku at least. Maybe a really old one painted/carved somewhere to show the age of the trope?
Second, and I'll fully admit I have no knowledge of Japanese or Kanji, but Wikipedia lists the Japanese for Haiku as 俳句. Which to my white dude eyes look different than the above.
Like, I don't see us taking any other page that has its origin in a different language and just putting a picture of the word in said different language.

Hmmm...I have to agree now that I think about it, an actual example would be better. How about this? Keep in mind that traditional haiku is based on counts of syllables, not words, so the English translations of haiku typically won't follow the 5-7-5 pattern we're familiar with.
I thought this was being suggested for the top-bar icon for Haiku pages, not the page image for Haiku itself.
We're not going to get a namespace icon for Haiku/ for a while, probably not until TVT 2.0 comes around.
It seems to be suggested for both. I'm fine with it as a tab, not as a page image.
That's better, but I still wonder how you'd put it in and not mess the alignment of the text on the page.

You're right; I tried it and it did futz with the alignment.
I thought this was TVTropes 2.0.
No. 2.0 is the hypothetical DB-level redesign of the wiki to make it less archaic.
Clock's up; locking up.
This is the Japanese character for "Haiku" - would make a good page image.
Alternatively, I've noticed that on pages with Haiku namespace tabs, the Haiku tabs don't have any decals or icons like most other namespace tabs. Would it be possible to add this to them also?
