According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, geopolitics is "[the] study of the influence of such factors as geography, economics, and demography on the politics and especially the foreign policy of a state"[https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/geopolitics [1]]. More colloquially, geopolitics refers to decision-making by states on the basis of their understanding of geopolitics, and to the often ruthless competition of states for resources and influence abroad predicted by such fields of study.

In the present day, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the currently established world order is shifting. Though it remains the most powerful nation in the world, the unipolar moment of the United States is increasingly being challenged, both from without in the form of rival powers and from within in the form of a neo-nationalist groundswell against the integrated global economy that ensures its position at the top of the current world order.

Whatever the future holds, one thing seems clear: we have reached the end of The End of History. I look forwards to the input of other tropers on the interesting times we live in.

I'm going to redirect this conversation here. There are already enough politics topics that anyone looking for something to discuss could easily get lost. No sense adding another.
