Very cool ideas, ortho!
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Happy New Year!
2016 sucked, but this RP and all of you definitely made it suck less.
D'aaaw, thanks Ortho... First time I've ever made something suck less! ...Well, I could have phrased that better.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Someone should post!
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Indeed they should!
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Sorry, the holidays have been keeping me busy. I have a party to go to tonight, but I'll try to have something up by morning

Don't stress, it's a busy time of year for most people.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Hey, Quite. Are we allowed to swap characters from time to time? I'm not ashamed to admit wanting to play a different character at the moment xD
Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' lookYes, Emily already did so and I have permission to use another one soon.
What he said
Thanks, guys!
So, Insane, I was thinking about making a dragon character. And I was wanting to make it not, you know, OP. So I wanted to check in with you before I posted any dragon species ideas and whatnot. Because, I mean, its probably better to ask first instead of springing something on you.
Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' lookThat seems reasonable. We've already acknowledged the existence of dragons on several occasions. And the concept isn't inherently OP. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Species Name: Dragon (Lacerta agilis)
Species Aging: Dragons live for a very, very long time, although no one is quite sure how long. They aren’t immortal- they show signs of age. The oldest dragon ever recorded was around eight-thousand, and was toothless, blind, and unable to breathe fire anymore. Still, most dragons die before they even reach the age where they could be considered ancient, since those who live by the sword tend to die by it. They also tend to resent the fact that vampires live longer than they do.
1-15: Wyrmling
15-120: Young
120 – 3000: Adult
3000 - ???: Ancient.
Species Physical Characteristics: Dragons in the U.S tend to resemble their Western depictions the most. With four legs, wings, and a reptilian body, they tend to be easily recognizable. When they hatch, a dragon is about the size of a small human. After hatching, dragons grow at a rapid rate, until they hit the age of fifteen; at which point, their growth slows down a good portion, and they’re about the size of a horse. They then grow until they’re about a hundred and twenty, at which point they’ve reached the size of an elephant. They don’t stop growing then, but the process slows down to a crawl; they’ll grow until the day they die, but it can take a hundred years for them to make any real process.
Species Magical Characteristics: Interestingly enough, dragons have only a few magical innate abilities, and they lack the ability to learn new magic as well. Their breath weapon- the most iconic thing about them- is pretty much the only “magic” they know. In other words, they don’t really know magic at all, which is why a lot of dragons hoard and covet magical artifacts.
Strengths:
-Size and Strength: Dragons are apex predators, and it shows. Dragons are typically much stronger than a human, and almost always larger than them as well. They aren’t afraid to bodyslam someone in direct combat if it means the difference between defeat and victory.
-Breath Weapons: Dragons are generally known for breathing fire. And indeed, some of them can breathe fire- but others can breathe other things. The most common breath weapons are fire, frost, and lightning; there ARE others, but they’re insanely rare. Dragon scale colors typically correspond to the type of element that they can breathe, although there is also a good portion of dragonkind that have unrelated colors. A dragon can only use his or her breath weapon once or twice between resting and/or eating, however, as it is a strenuous power.
-Flight: Dragons have wings, and therefore can fly. They can typically support up to their weight and a half.
-Natural Defenses: Being apex predators, dragons are equipped with sharp teeth, sharp claws, and hard scales. Assaulting the scales of a dragon directly is a daunting task, as they’re almost as hard as steel. However, those scales are only hard as long as you are going at them directly; sliding a blade through spots where scales are gone, have chinks in them, or overlap can deal some real damage.
Weaknesses:
-Unarmored Underbelly: Just like in a lot of mythology, the stomach and underside of the neck of a dragon is much, much softer than the rest of them. Although a pocketknife isn’t going to do much if you stab a dragon in the belly, any sword or gun worth its salt is going to do some serious damage if you hit a dragon from below.
-Collateral Damage: Dragons are big. Humans are small. When the two mix, things get crushed. Because of their size and strength, dragons have to be very, very careful. Stepping or sitting on someone, accidentally knocking something down with their tail, and falling into things are all- among other things- concerns among dragons. They tend to send people a lot of “I’m sorry I stepped on you” cards.
-Easily Recognizable: If you look at a dragon, you’re going to scream one of two things- dinosaur or dragon. Almost anyone who’s watched a cartoon, read a fantasy book, or just likes mythology has some idea of what a dragon looks like. And even if you don’t know what they look like, a giant lizard tends to inspire panic, and tends to scare people.
-Size: Besides the obvious dangers of accidentally harming someone, dragons also tend to be too big to fit in human dwellings. If they’re a Wyrmling or a really small Young dragon, they might be able to really SQUEEZE in there, but anyone older is going to have to go to some lengths to be able to actually fit inside a house.
-Limited Procreation: Dragons reproduce very, very rarely. They’re reptiles, and lay eggs; however, a dragoness will almost always lay only one egg at a time (although if she has twins, it’s a real reason for some celebration.) A dragon has to be a mature adult to mate. And they mate about once every eight-hundred years. Interestingly enough, though, dragons “mate” for life, and their mating system is very much like human marriage.
Color/Breath Weapon Correspondence:
(Please note that the following are pretty much just averages. If you see a red dragon, they’ll probably breathe fire. That’s a probably- there is no real guarantee, and they might just spit some lightning or frost. Also, there’s probably a million other colors and combinations- I can’t think of everything, and this is once again just a general thing.)
Fire: Shades of Red, Black, Orange, and Green.
Frost: Shades of White, Light Blue, Grey, and Silver.
Lightning: Shades of Blue and Dark Blue, Yellow, and Purple.

Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' lookI'm digging the concept so far. Do you have any ideas for specific characters, or just the outline?
Approved. I enjoy the idea that dragons can breathe things other than fire.
So I'm leaving on a two-week cruise tomorrow, and it is incredibly unlikely that I'll be able to post (I may be able to check on the thread, but that's all). PQI, feel free to have Lark knocked out during the fight that's (probably) coming.
See ya in 14/16 days!
[TOP SECRET]@Emily Yes! I just posted a sign-up sheet.
@Insane Thank you! Generally, fire-breathing dragons are something I find cool, but other breath weapons can be even cooler.
@Secret Ooh, a cruise! Have fun!
Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' lookEnjoy the cruise!
Time to crack a whip and keep the wolves at bay.
Also, given that I am going to London tomorrow.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Waiting for PQI or vamp (or both) to post before I do.
I'm waiting for you or vampire. It would be rude to post twice in a row.
Alrighty, posted a possible dragon character in the sign-ups.
Wooze looks at Glass with a 'please take her away' lookIt seems somewhat unlikely for Sloane to notice the wolves following them at the moment, plus nothing has happened to Hildegard or Myrna, so I'll wait for vamp to post.
Question, where is Hoffman Manor? Because it would be a hoot if Seawell where to, in his mad dash, get himself and his new monster companion into the mess going on in there by accident.

Approved. I appreciate the world-building.
