A wolf treads lightly. So does Inuksuk.

A wolf is alert. So is Inuksuk.

His pack were hunted in the past by men seeking to destroy them. He knows the price of recklessness. And so it is - though he acts now out of habit, not motivation - that Inuksuk, towards the group's front, low to the ground, notices the gaps in the rock wall beside them and, through the first, a shape of red.

The soldiers they fought, the others had told him, wore red.

Counting on the hubbub of the rest of the group, his own silence of passage and his new sand-coloured robe to hide him, Inuksuk turns and makes for a slight depression in the rock where, though he will not be hidden, he will at least have a little cover. There, he draws his bow - a new one, a bizarre creation of iron rather than wood - with his left hand, takes two arrows from his quiver in his right, nocks one and readies it, pulling it to his cheek.

Then he focusses.

Inuksuk moves to H21 and readies an attack with his Iron Bow against H19.

Move to E20. Prepare attack with Frost Tome.

Astra looked utterly miserable, but readily moved forward anyway, if only to take cover in the shade of a nearby dune.

Move to E18 and defend.

Kiri actually looked like she was enjoying herself. The heat seemed to energize her if anything judging from the way she zipped about the area.

Move to F18, prepare attack, Wing Sword

Round 1: Player Phase

"Look out, Railen! There are wyverns on the ridge!" Malia called out as she hurried after the main group. "I can protect the rest of you, at least."

Malia's feet left graceful swirls in the sand as she twirled, evoking the power of the newest dance she had learned to fill her nearby friends with determination to stand up to any enemy blades.

"The devil is that?" the captain of the wyvern wing on the rocky ridge muttered under his breath, watching the motley group charge forward and draw weapons. The pair of manakete at the front in particular raised his eyebrow. "Are those laguz? Hmph. More damn treasure hunters.

"To wing, boys! Let's send 'em packing!" he called, tugging his mount's reins to the sky. One of the treasure hunters had run out ahead of the others, but he ignored him and dove for the dragon-winged girl. His wingmen could deal with the bravo; he would scatter the main group by cutting down the leader.

Well, that sucks. Kiri and Railen just got ambushed by a bunch of wyvern riders. At least, Malia warned them about the threat in advance and did a dance of protection. Upon receiving the buff, Damien flexes his muscles and glares at the punk who downed Kiri. He's definitely going to receive a world of hurt from Damien.

He dashes up to the rider and attempts to jump-kick him off his steed. If this works, he grabs the rider and tosses him into the air. Once the rider is in the air, Damien juggles him repeatedly with a set of headbutts. Damien leaps into the air and does a complicated grapple with the rider before crashing into the ground with him.

Switch to Brave Clip. Move to G17 and attack Vissan 1.

Everyone was going up ahead, and now there were four dragon riders all around them, especially where Railen was at. Zeera thought she saw Kiri fall down in the sands.

This didn't look all that good.

Move to E22. Prepare attack with Frost Tome.

Too much. Absorbed in the task of suppressing any foes who might charge out through the gap in the rock, Inuksuk completely fails to notice the massive wyvern swooping down at him until mere moments before it's too late. As it is, he barely manages to leap back to dodge the dragon's snapping mouth, only to be forced to jump out of the way of the rider's accompanying slash of his blade.

Away. NOW.

Inuksuk jumps, kicking himself off the rock wall and into a run. He turns, loosing first one, then the second of the arrows that he was holding from his Iron Bow.

Then -

Well, they were going to find out at some point.

- he transforms, taking on his other form and kicking off the sand - his pads fortunately now protected from the burning sand by the cloth that he had bought upon docking - to put a little distance between himself and the massive beast. Finally, he skids to a halt and turns, letting out a low growl.

Well, that didn't go according to plan. Inuksuk moves to G21, attacks Vissan 3 with his Iron Bow, uses his Bonus Action to transform into a Laguz (thus automatically switching to his Iron Clip) and, using Canto, moves to D21.

Vera snarled as she drew her bow and flew off.

If Vissan 2 is still alive after Astra moves: Vera to C15, attack Vissan 2 (Wing Spear dude) with Iron Bow.

If Vissan 2 is dead and 1 is still alive: Vera to D17, attack Vissan 1 with Iron Bow. If danced, attack again.

Astra stared wide-eyed at the leader of the enemy wyvern riders; his axe was unnaturally fast, and one of his swings had somehow found a gap in Kiri's defenses... and worst of all, Astra had been caught off-guard and thus hadn't even been able to muster any support for the older manakete.

Fortunately, they could still see her breathing; however, these soldiers were more than a slight problem for them. One of them, the one that had been wounded by Railen (also down, but at least Astra had the very slight consolation of him being too far to support properly), had a strange lance, so Astra, not wishing to challenge the one who had so quickly felled the physically-stronger of the duo, chose to eliminate him immediately.

Requesting Stamina from Malia. Move to D14 and attack Vissan 2 with Smite Tome. If performed, return to E18 and heal Kiri.

Once healed move to F22

Oh no... Milliana's new friends are in danger! She needs to help them!

Milliana moves to G 21 and attacks Vissan 3.

Round 2: Player Phase

The wyvern captain didn't have long to relish his victory, as Damien leapt into action, and tore the knight off his mount, leaving him an easy target for Vera's arrows to drain his blood into the desert sand. Malia's feet twisted through the sand once more, invigorating Astra before she retreated to the backline. A burst of intense light sent another wyvern and rider crashing to the ground with a blood-curdling shriek as the young manakete hurried to heal the older dragon before she was swallowed by a dune. Groggily, Kiri pulled herself upright, and dropped back to regain her senses. Inuksuk's arrows found their mark in his attacker, and as the wolf bounded away, his avian ward covered his retreat with a volley of dark energy that sent that rider careening out of the sky, as well. It seemed the tide of the fight was turning in the company's favor.

"HhhhnnnnrraaaAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!" a mountain of a man screamed as he came charging over the dunes, ignoring Damien to lunge at Astra. With blinding speed and devastating force, the berserker's axe caught the manakete full force, slamming him to the ground in a shower of silicate with a single blow. Damien, meanwhile, was occupied as the surviving wyvern and the berserker's companions came at him from all sides. The martial artist deftly dodged the mage's fireball, and when the axefighter's footing slipped in the sand, Damien flashed forward with a series of blows that shattered bones and ruptured arteries, but with his focus so divided, he couldn't evade the axe that came whistling out of the sky.

Zeera thought she heard a voice up ahead, but nevertheless, now that most of the dragon riders were gone, Zeera went back towards the dunes.

Move to E19. Use Lightning Tome on Vissan 5.

Seeing Astra being stabbed, one of her own kind and one much younger than her being stabbed brought something to the surface in Kiri's mind. A very, very old and deep seated anger that reached out through millenia and grabbed hold of her.

Taking the Dragonstone from her pocket she flew forward and her whole body was enveloped in a deep red flame, that seemed to grow from a person sized fireball to a towering inferno. The first thing to emerge from it was two wings, similar to Kiri's own yet they practically brought night to those caught under them. Next came a deafening roar and the flames being put out like a candle reavealing a dragon covered in deep red scales and a metallic luster.

She lowered her face towards the man who had felled Astra, and spoke. Her mouth did not move but words still formed and echoed in the minds of just about everyone present. It was a language none of them had heard before, but understood perfectly as the words simply asserted their meaning. "Leave him, Whelp!" Not long after that a she opened her gaping maw and let out a veritable flood of the same deep red flames.

Move to F19, Use Dragonstone, and Dragonbreath Vissan 5

Inuksuk tenses, ready to spring at the wyvern rider as he swoops towards him - only for Milliana to glide over him and raise her tome, draining man and beast alike of their life to leave them crashing to the ground in front of him.

What is she doing? The recklessness -

"Milliana!" Inuksuk leaps forward, scanning the battlefield, and cries out as soon as he has transformed. "Go to aid our allies; I am capable of protecting myself!"

With that, using the grounded corpse of the dragon as cover, he reaches out with his new bow and looses another pair of arrows.

Inuksuk uses his Bonus Action to transform back into his human form, equipping his Iron Bow in the process, then moves to F20 and attacks Vissan 5.

With the wounds he had taken from the fighting, it would be best to pull back for now. With that in mind, Damien slinks back to the sand dune and takes a nice, refreshing sip from one of his Vulneraries while watching the poor berserker get burninated by Kiri the dragon. He even hummed a few bars of a catchy song to rub salt into the berserker's wound.

Move to H19 and use Vulnerary.

There was one wyvern left. Pulling out her Anima Bow, Vera flew off and took aim.

Vera move to G15. If Vissan 6 is still alive, attack him with Iron Bow. Otherwise attack Vissan 4 with Anima Bow.

Milliana hears Inuksuk, but she still wants to be able to help the others...

"I..."

It's at that moment she notices Railen is in critical condition.

"Oh no...!"

Milliana rushes over as fast as she can and tries to heal her.-

Milliana moves to E 17 and uses Heal on Railen.

Requesting Malia gives Milliana a second turn.

Milliana, once done rushes over to Astra and attempts to heal her as well.

Milliana moves to D 18 and uses Heal on Astra.

If Astra is healed, move to E23.

Right away Railen gave Milliana a thumbs up and told her, "Birds of a feather stick together. Thanks!" before dashing up and over some sand dunes, feet trained for the unwieldy terrain even with injuries.

Move to E20 and defend.

With a roar of wind, the sandstorm came upon the battlefield. The powerful winds made movement difficult, and though the flying sand did no more damage than to rasp at any exposed skin, it stung at eyes and made it hard to distinguish anything more than a few feet from one's face.

• A sandstorm moves in!
  • All units suffer -2 movement and -30 accuracy.
  • Flying Mounts and Laguz: Birds are grounded.

With the accursed sandstorm around, it's hard to see a damn thing. Luckily, Damien pulled the cowl over his face to protect it.

Milliana looks over to Railen.

"Y-You are very welcome— Eeeek!"

She wasn't expecting the sandstorm to kick in and she got knocked to the ground. Thankfully it doesn't take her too long to stand back up, but sadly her wings are worthless right now.

"Oh dear..."

Milliana stays in place and defends.

Zeera pulled down her hood to cover her face as the sand blew. The enormous form of dragon Kiri stood nearby, but Zeera kept on moving through the sandstorm.

Move to F17. Defend.
