Atlanta is a new series on FX about two cousins trying to make it in the Hip Hop scene of the titular city.

It was created by Donald Glover who also stars in the show.

The first episode is available in it's entirety on youtube (in the US at least)

The show's tone is split between comedy and drama. I watched and enjoyed the first two episodes. Is any one else watching this?

I particularly enjoyed some of the interesting social commentary the show managed to squeeze in between moments of levity: police brutality, transphobia/homophobia in the black community, etc.

The moment I remember the most however is that little scene with the dude in the batman mask. It was hilarious in it's absurdity. I was winded by the time I stopped laughing [lol]

Okay saw the recent episode and have to say for a self-contained satire episode filled with sketches it was hilarious as hell and justify my reasons for why this show is the best.

The main plot is a pretty good parody on the PC time we live in that can rival what South Park have been doing. Especially at the part with the trans-racial white man which pretty much a personification of an Oreo.

And the commercials in the episodes has to be the highlight of the whole thing from that cigeratte commercial which advertise their product in a more realistic way to their consumer to that weird Dodge commercial which started out normal but then gets bizarre in the next one. The cereal commercial (which is fully animated and feels like something that Drawn Together would do as a one off gag) raise a pretty vital point in our American culture that has been bothering me: and that would be the persecution of not letting that rabbit have a bowl of Trix. Seriously, the wolf represents the Trix rabbit, the police officer represents the commercials, the very brutal arrest represents all those times the rabbit couldn't get the bowl at the end of the commercials, and the kids represents the consumers who start to realize how fucked up not giving a guy a bowl of cereal is because its "Just for kids". I hope people take away from this sketch on how wrong not letting the Rabbit have a bowl of Trix is . . . oh and something about all the police brutalities happening in real life, but its mostly about Trix cereal.
