I don't get why that article exists or what it contributes in terms of tropes. The fact that you're arguing about part of the content only makes this problem more starkly apparent.

I just tumbled across Acceptable Inevitable Targets and was somewhat surprised husbands, wives and mothers-in-law where included, because marriage is not really inevitable. Maybe at least wives and husbands should be renamed into moms and dads (as having them is inevitable).
