Youkai Shoujo - Monsuga

Chapter 77 and 78 just came out. Yatsuki finds out that his fusion with Icchan is optimized for defense and nothing else. Fortunately Kirue isn't completely out of it yet either though. Next chapter will be Goto vs. Kaki-man, which is going to be... interesting.

Also, the little omake at the end of 78 is adorable.

Not at all, just little to say. English translation seems 20+ chapter behind, and I have not the heart to look over the raws. Puts readers in a strange situation-any real discussion could have easy answers gleaned from untranslated pages, but most will not want to spoil themselves, so they tend not to engage until the translation is caught up. As for chapter 79, nice to see Kappa again. I still think he should be the main character.

I just thought it was weird, since like 3 new English chapters were just released.

And yes, Kappa is awesome.

Kappa is pretty cool, yes. Still hoping for her to help develop some stuff with Kei's crush.

I actually saw Youkai Shoujo on the bookshelves over here at Miraiya Shoten. I feel like I should pick it up...

A new chapter appears!

Robo form has the eyes as a weak point, like a dozen new characters are introduced, and Yatsuki turns out to have a long-lost brother/evil clone or something.

I'm suddenly tempted to skip 20 chapters ahead.

I'm honestly getting very tired of GCUP already. I'm not a fan of the whole 'sure, we tried to murder you and your friends, but we all have tragic backstories so that makes it okay!' thing.

I think my main issue with it is that it's really sort of an unnecessary element. Like, the series was going along just fine with random Youkai showing up and the team having to deal with them. You really didn't need to add this whole organization to oppose the protagonist. It's especially jarring because it feels like it just appeared out of nowhere and rather than introducing the concept slowly it dumps a whole bunch of characters in all at once. It reminds of Bleach's whole "Let's introduce a zillion characters at one time even though only a handful will actually be important" approach.

Like, the concept is solid and potentially interesting but for goodness sake you need to pace yourself rather than introduce basically every character in the organization over the course of a dozen chapters.
