Given that no one has talked about redefining the term, I think it is remaining about terrible production values. How often does a writer say they just didn't care when not in response to poor production values?
When a writer says 'they didn't care' it's usually about a plot hole, Out of Character moment or character shilling/destruction.
We already have tropes for those I think.
Potentially though known but ignored research failures would also fit this and can be a production issues.

We already have enough research/artistic license tropes. Besides, not bothering with the research doesn't mean that they don't care about the quality of the work (and this trope should be a reaction towards the quality of the final product). It usually means that they didn't think that it was important for their story.
For we shall slay evil with logic...Word of God requirement will result in too little examples.

We only need 3 for it to be considered a valid trope, plus In-Universe examples would help fill out the list.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Going to call in favor of making it trivia, since it's got plenty of votes.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportHere is a list of the links to get to work on.
We're cutting any examples that don't have Word of God that they didn't care, right?
Do we make this a Trivia trope and move examples there after we clean up misuses, or sooner?
Would word from staff involved in the work qualify an example?

Note has been placed as a comment, while index reassignment from YMMV is done. We just have examples and wicks to sort through now. I may do some of it when I'm able.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWhy did this become trivia? Shouldn't it be YMMV, since some people feel that the creators/localizers didn't care, and some people don't feel that?

Then there would be even more misuse then there was before.
The redefinition is that it's when Word of God (or those involved) is that they didn't care, which is Trivia. Links that don't reference the stated are being purged.
The numbers I am seeing on the crowner hooked to the page are off. 21=24-5, 5=13-7,-1=10-10,5=7-13,-11=4-17. Anyone else seeing these numbers?
The crowner page itself does not have these errors.
I sorted through the main example page. We now have seven examples that are either in-universe, discussed, supported by Word of God, or some combination. That's honestly more than I thought we'd have. Next stop: wick cleaning!
I'm seeing the same problem with the numbers you are, war877. Doesn't really affect the results of this crowner, though. Is there a place for reporting bugs?
Personally, would have preferred it to be used solely as a supertrope/index to the bad production tropes, or keeping it as YMMV, but having its name changed so that it's clear it's only about production values (which would also prevent people from generally using it to complain about anything), but neither of those were options.
For we shall slay evil with logic...They could have cared and still made some bad choices, most of the times bad things like that happen because they cared too much or just had some different ideas.
I feel like it should go back to YMMV, since there are people who feel like a product was okay as it was, and those who felt like an element of production (such as localization) was not given any amount of care.
Then that would be marked as flame bait and have no examples or wicks
What about making it a Darth Wiki?
Crowner was already called, and we're already doing cleanup. It's a bit late for that now.
We did bring up Darth earlier, and it was never added to the crowner, so who knows.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThere's nothing mutually exclusive about what the crowner decided (requiring Word of God for non-in-universe examples) and a name change to make it clearer that it's supposed to be about production values. If there's enough support for that idea, we could put it to a single-prop crowner.
The other suggestions have either been voted down or are too little, too late.
Can't they re-decide and do another voting session?
The reason it was decided not to move to Darth Wiki was that it would not stop the rampant abuse of it. The last trope we tried to "fix" by moving to Darth Wiki, Wall Banger, continued to have such a problem with complaining that it had to be outright purged. We wanted to avoid that here, and this new use kept it objective enough to stay a viable trope.
There's so few examples on the page now (7 to be exact). I think the definition should not be limited to Word of God.
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
If moving it to Trivia requiring Word of God, is it still going to be strictly limited to production values, or is it going to include examples where a writer admits to not caring about a show he wrote an episode for, not caring about research, etc.? I hope it sticks to the production side of it.
