I feel those things scream guerrilla sold8ers than rangers. Not saying they can't be both, but many times they aren't (Power Rangers, Texas Rangers, Night Watch Rangers).

I'm not crazy about 4, but it's better than the current so I can live with it.

I dont know, that isn't exactly the typical presentation of Rangers. Rangers are an elite group of lightly armored troops that can double as ambush units or scouts, usually Elite Redshirts and such.

The trope itself doesn't represent the US Army Rangers. It's a naming trope. The trope is basically "badass elites are called rangers." That's why Power Rangers get to be an example despite not all of them behave like a military unit.

I'd say we need a crowner, but I'm not really feeling any of the options, even the ones I suggested.
