They had that cool fog bit in the E3 match. I'm sure the levolution and map effects will be super cool. They mentioned dynamic weather based on the map.

I'm still kinda torn about it. It's basically gonna be BF 4 with a WW 1 skin but is that so terrible? BF 4 has some amazing gameplay and is probably still one of the best shooters on the market.

But then why bother with the WW 1 stuff? The gameplay is gonna be a bit hampered with so much modern technology missing.

I know. Which is why I keep wishing that it was DICE who decided to use the space sci-fi setting. Levelution involving a space station or asteroid field? HELLS YEAH!

There should be an easter egg on a snowy map where players can gain access to a football and "kick" it to one another by running up to it and pressing melee. [lol]

It amazes me how much spunk and diverse comments the group they chose have. Nothing crass at all, just lots of class from those folks.waii

Then again they do use the same group most of the time, so it's quite possible they were chosen for their open-mindedness.

Likely. The kids and teens do show that they change their opinions (one little kid actually went from disliking gay people to liking them) but these people have years of worldly experience to draw on.

Some players with Access to the Alpha datamined the game and found that DICE had left almost all of the game's files, including the data related to the singleplayer campaign, within the Alpha version. As a result they've been able to figure out quite a bit as to what the final build will include. Link Here

A few key things to note:

  • There's a score counter that mentions both "HORSE KILLED" or "HORSE WOUNDED". Guess that means DICE already had a multiplayer model involving horses, but opted to remove it due to complaints from PETA and whatnot.
  • There will be 10 maps upon release.
  • Only a couple of the maps seem to involve Naval combat. And said combat will only involve the smaller patrol ships; you will not be able to directly control the dreadnoughts or other larger ships as in BF 1942.
  • Conquest and Rush modes will be featured in the initial release.
  • The campaign won't be very long - it only has 6 chapters plus an Epilogue, with each chapter being broken into several parts.
  • A complete list of all available weapons was uncovered. Lots of semi-autos and prototype automatics, to nobody's surprise.
  • The "Behemoths" seem to be the new Levelution for the upcoming entry. They haven't figured how many different types of Behemoths exist, but the airships, dreadnoughts, and armored trains will generally trigger a significant change to the map when destroyed.

All sound pretty good to me. What's the weapons list looking like? Anything of note?

I can't follow links to reddit right now.

Not sure about weapons. I did hear something about a capture the flag variant with carrier pigeons, though.

Since Garcon asked for a list of the weapons, here you go:

Weapons List:

  • Standsch
  • Beretta Model 1918.
  • Bergmann Schmeisser MP 18.
  • Browing Auto 5.
  • Remington Model 10 Trench.
  • Winchester Model 1897 Trench.
  • Luger Rifle.
  • Remington Model 8.
  • Cei-Rigotti M1895.
  • Winchester M1907 SL.
  • Martini Henry.
  • Springfield M1903.
  • Lee Enfield MK III SMLE.
  • Mauser Gewehr 98.
  • Steyr-Mannlicher M1895.
  • Winchester M1895.
  • Browning Automatic Rifle (I keep forgetting that this sucker existed before WWII started and was the Thompson's spiritual predecessor)
  • Madsen MG.
  • British Bulldog.
  • Frommer Stop.
  • FN Model 1903.
  • Colt Pocket Hamerless.
  • Mauser 1914.
  • Kolibri.
  • Borchardt C-93.
  • Mars Automatic Pistol.
  • Steyr M1912.
  • Baretta M1915.
  • Colt 1911.
  • Lancaster Pistol.
  • Luger P08.
  • Mauser C96.
  • Webley-Fosbery Audo Revolver.
  • Smith & Wesson Model 3.
  • Bodeo 1889.

Special Weapons:

  • Grenades.
  • Mines.
  • Anti Tank Gun.
  • Dynamite.
  • Mortar.
  • Tripwire Bombs.
  • Field Kit Weapons. (no idea what this means exactly. I'm guessing they're gonna do something similar to Hardline and BF 4 where the really over-powered weapons are lying around in hiding spots around the map?)
  • Stationary Weapons.
  • Tanker.
  • Pilot.
  • Boat Weapons.
  • Behemoth Weapons
  • Cavalry Weapons.

Class Gadgets List:

  • Assault:
    • AT Grenade
    • AT Mine
    • Breechgun
  • Medic:
    • Bandages
    • Medic Bag
    • Rifle Launcher (I'm guessing this might be the older grenade launcher design that placed the grenade on the barrel and propelled it with the bullet, similar to the WWII rifle grenade.)
    • Syringe
    • Wrench (wait, so the medic is responsible for both healing AND vehicle repairs now?!)
  • Support:
    • Ammo Crate
    • Mortar
    • Tripwire Bomb
  • Scout:
    • Flaregun
    • K Bullet (no idea what this is...)
  • Common
    • Gasmask (everybody gets this, no matter what class or loadout you have. The catch though is that you can only fire from the hip and will have less audio and visual awareness while wearing the gasmask.

Grenades:

  • Fragmented
  • Gas
  • Impact (no idea this type existed back then)
  • Incendiary
  • Mini
  • Smoke

Melee Weapons:

  • Hatchet
  • Knife
  • Saber
  • Shovel
  • Bayonet
  • Mace
  • Club
  • (where's mah Claymore, godammit?!? Or even better, a greatsword!!!)

That does look like a pretty nice list. Conspicuously absent Mosin Nagant though. That they'd put in the Winchester 1985 over the Mosin feels odd. They'll probably add it in a DLC with the Russians themselves.

Looks to be fun, if a bit inauthentic. But I guess nothing but bolt actions would be kinda boring.

We wouldn't happen to have an attachment list would we? I saw a lot of bayonets and optics on weapons during E3 that certainly weren't standard issue.

[up]No mentioning of attachments yet. But, they do mention special dog tags, just like the last few Battlefield games have been using. For example, you'll receive a dog tag just for participating in the Alpha testing stage, and the open Beta testers will also get their own unique dog tags. Also, so will players who have the other Battlefield titles on their Origin accounts, and the few dedicated dudes who have all the BF games since 3 on their account will get a really special one.

Custom Camos are definitely in, at least for the guns. No idea about the vehicles though. Player customization is... confusing. Apparently you'll be able to use the characters from the singleplayer campaign as skins, but only for the faces, not the uniforms.

Now that's interesting. I heard a rumor one of the campaign player characters is female. I wonder if this is how we'll finally get lady soldiers in Battlefield.

A friend of mine sent me this

Gameplay of all the primary weapons available in the Alpha. The animations look neat and it's easy to see why none of the weapons ever met mass production.

Kidna iffy on the menu though. And the weapons seemingly have entire different variants for different sights and bayonet attachments. And I spy a lot of generic sights and bayonets. Seems like a weird way of doing things. Why not just make them attachments?

Maybe it's just an Alpha weirdness thing.

[up][up]I think that was confirmed in some developer comments on the Bedouin lady warrior in the announcement trailer - she'll be a playable character in some of the singleplayer missions.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot

K Bullet (no idea what this is...)

An anti-tank bullet. No really.

It's the successor to the reversed bullet.

No it wouldn't. Loads of nothing but automatics and self-loaders with shotguns is boring anymore. They're making a horrible mistake COD-ifying the Great War like that.

At least the gun designs are "educational", in a sense. The M1909 Benet-Mercie LMG has one downright bizarre belt-fed clip design, and the odd angles of the ironsights and scopes make me appreciate the improved ergonomics that modern gun makers emphasize.

In fact, it's got me thinking. Since they're going with so many unused or rarely used prototype guns from the era, why not give a little historical blurb for each gun, similar to how World of Tanks does? There's certainly a crowd with an interest in that sort of information, and it'll allow players to better understand why certain firearm concepts failed where others succeeded.

Ricko's weapon list is missing the Mondragon, probably one of the most notable weapons due to being a Mexican weapon in a FPS (Already a very rare sight) set in WW 1.
