I believe most, if not all, of the girls in that shot are from Gainax works, and since they also did Gurren Lagann, I think it counts.
That really doesn't show what they are making a gag of though and really it should be part of the same franchise.

I don't watch the show, so whatever mythology gag is present is lost on me, since they look like they're from the same show. The current looks more like Crisis Crossover than Mythology Gag, since they're physically appearing in front of each other rather than merely being referenced, so pull regardless of replacement.
