For live action it's easier but in animation since actors can change their voice from show to show it's rather a challenge to tell who is who when you've just got a list of names. Take this for example:
"Family Guy: Lion-O, Drella, Joker, Jackie Burkhart (formerly Gwen Stacy), Tim the Bear, and Stan Smith all live under one roof. A urologist, Johann Krauss, and Buzz Lightyear are Lion-O's drinking buddies. Princess Leia is Lion-O's current boss (his former boss Nestor choked on a dinner roll), Josie Grossie is Stan's (or Tim's?) ex, Tiffany is Buzz's wife, and Danielle Chase is an Alpha Bitch who torments Jackie."
Which kinda requires you to have watched all the other shows being referenced. Either that, or go onto Google, find out who voiced Lion-O/Drella/Joker/Jackie/Gwen/Tim/Stan and, if you don't know already, find out which character they voiced on Family Guy. Now here's a good example:
"The Fairly Odd Parents: Omi is a buck-toothed kid who is ignored by his parents, J. Jonah Jameson and Lady Tremain, and bullied by an evil, ill-tempered teenager named Riley Daring. He gets through the day by making wishes to his fairy godparents, Knock Out and Cruella de Vil, though they don't always work out as he hoped. Rocko, Omi's schoolteacher, frequently tries to capture the fairies and Riley's little sister Lizzie Devine is crushing on Omi. He also likes to hang out with his friends Nelson Tibideaux and Malcolm (later Chase Young), and is frequently visited by a muscular fairy named Spotswoode. He has a crush on popular girl Kimi Finster."
It's very clear from the description who everyone is supposed to be. Omi is obviously Timmy with the teeth mentioned even if you don't watch Xiaolin Showdown or know that both are voiced by Tara Strong.
